Good stuff!
Fun and entertaining throughout, never boring. It's a fairly standard 'group of misfits find a way to make their own movie' movie but it has its own style and it's one of the better ones I've seen. Maybe just below Brigsby Bear
Eddie Murphy kills it. I can't imagine anyone else in that role. It's cool to see him doing shit again. Wesley Snipes comes out of wherever he's been hiding too and nearly steals the show, he was hilarious. A handful of fun cameos too
Fun time throughout. Went with a 7!

Just watched this and it’s pretty good and entertaining. It’s like sharknado to me where you know it’s not a good movie but you still love it and find it entertaining.
I think the real Dolomite movie should be nominated for December |

Anyone else notice how impossibly fast and smooth Eddie Murphy’s handwriting was

p good! It was nothing amazing but it was a PLEASANT/fun if formulaic ride
Brigsby > Ed Wood > Dolemite > Disaster Artist as far as this good-movie-about-the-making-of-a-bad-movie sub-genre goes. I didn't realize til after that it was written by the same guys that did Ed Wood, definitely can tell. I think what gives Wood the edge over this is Landau, this didn't quite have a standout performance up to par with that one. Although Snipes was hilarious in this
from the short snippets they showed at the end, Murphy did a better Dolemite than the actual Dolemite. Though I guess that shouldn't be too surprising since Moore was kinda knowingly mediocre at acting
went with a 6 | |

A fun lil FLICK! I thought the casting was perfect. I couldn't even tell you the last Eddie Murphy movie I saw, but it probably wasn't very good! Wesley Snipes was also great. There are a lot of great moments and the ending is really wholesome. I give it a six only because it suffers from "based on a true story so it's a bit predictable" syndrome. It also felt extremely long at times. I think it just took a bit too long to set up.
RIP Charlie Murphy. | |
