As a reminder, we have chosen to pick out songs that stuck out to us, or ones that you would listen to again/put on a playlist. There is no hard rule to what songs you have to include here, but they should just be the highlights of the album for you. Try to pick at least two, if you can, but you can throw on as many as you want here. (My normal habit with this is to put a small star next to a song right after I listen to it to remind myself that it stuck out to me.).
On top of this, we are giving the album an official rating from 1-10. Your rating can be off any system or scale that you choose, but here is a general scale just in case you are needing a little help pinpointing where it should be:
Quote
10. A classic. One of your favorite albums of all time.
9. A great album. One of the best albums of the year.
8. A good album. You would suggest it to a friend.
7. An above average album. The songs hold up pretty well but the album won't change your life.
6. A promising album. There is potential for them to create great music, they just might not have perfected their sound.
5. An okay album. Your life is pretty unbothered after listening to it. You'd listen if it was on but nothing more.
4. An uninspired album. It has a few good songs but the rest were bad.
3. A disappointing album. You expected better from the album and artist and neither delivered on it.
2. A bad album. You would never go out of your way to listen to this artist or album again.
1. A horrible album. You can't understand how this album crawled its way out of a studio.
Warning: I’m pretty bad at talking about and judging music. I’m not knowledgeable enough and I mostly stick with what I like. I also never listen to full albums, even with bands that I like a lot. There’s not a single band whose entire discography I’ve listened to. Even my favorite bands of all time, I’ve never heard all of their music. I tend to listen to singles that I like instead of entire albums
If I listened to this album in reverse it’s p possible that my list would be flipped. The top of my rankings are some of the first songs I listened to. I think I just get bored and it all starts to sound the same so I can’t distinguish the later ones at that point
ANYWAY my rough tiers:
FAVORITES:
The Lion’s Roar
Emmylou
GOOD:
In the Hearts of Men
I Found a Way
FINE BUT NOT MEMORABLE:
Dance to Another Tune
Blue
Wolf
King of the World
New Year’s Eve
To a Poet
This Old Routine
I liked it, it’s kinda up my alley. I’m always down for some folk. Sometimes it got a little too twangy for me but it never felt too country to me thankfully (country sucks)
It sounded like it belonged in Telltale’s TWD at times which is a compliment, I loved that soundtrack. It reminded me of my fav song from it that some of you will remember, Take Us Back
Well I was very surprised you guys picked this. Because it’s the one I liked most out of all the samples. In fact after hearing it I went and down loaded about 6 of their most popular songs.
My Silver Lining was the first one I listened too and loved it. Added it to my library would give it a 9/10. But the others were not as good to me, a bit slower than I want it to be. But these ladies are very talented and I plan on sifting through all of their stuff in hopes of finding a few more I like. They remind me a bit of Amy McDonald who I really like even tho she’s out of my comfort zone.
This is what I was hoping this thread would be so far. I’m Not going to nominate or vote, but I will be checking out all of the suggestions in an attempt to find new music I like.
5 for me Not bad, but not remarkable. a few nice songs. I enjoyed The Lion's Roar and King of the World. Good vocals, but too much reverb on most of the tracks. Folk is definitely not my first choice of genre.
1. The Lion's Roar - very enjoyable. liked it a lot.

2. Emmylou - liked more then The Lion's Roar. Very enjoyable and catchy

3. In the Hearts of Men - slow and decent. Not a favroite song and definitely won't be top 3-5 type song. Still beautiful as these ladies have very interesting and ear pleasing voices and rhythem. (Someone don't tell Havo, but they said "god damn" in this song.)

4. Blue - liked this song. Reminded me of a 60s song from The Monkeys. Enjoyable catchy little beat to it. Not sure if I like this one more then The Lion's Roar or not.

Thots: it was enjoyable. The folky style isn’t something I listen a ton too but I definitely have some of it on my Spotify. Typically I like it a little more upbeat but I liked all of the songs and listened to most of them multiple times on my drive. I found some of the lyrics awkward, like they tried to fit too many words in a line and didn’t go with the music exactly IMO.
My favorites:
King of the world - mostly because of the part where they all yelled Fire.
Old routine - was pretty good too.
I found a way - probably my favorite good jams
Emmylou - this one was fun.
But the final question was did any of the songs make it to my permanent liked songs on Spotify:

No, emmylou and I found a way were very close but ultimately I knew I would probably skip them most times they came on. I like to be jazzed up in the car when listening to my apotify so slower stuff usually doesn’t make the cut.
This was cool though.
