Rian Johnson's next movie. LAST JEDI ASIDE he's done some p good stuff in the past so I'll definitely give this a chance, trailer looks v solid. And what a CAST
really fun movie overall but I guess my expectations were that it'd be more of a 'typical' whodunnit where there's tons of twists and turns and there's a bunch of different suspects til the very end. But this kinda just had the one twist which wasn't all that surprising
Preconceived expectations aside, I thought de Armas was super charming in this (only other thing I've seen her in is BR2049 where she wasn't really much of a character) and was a great protagonist. Craig's scenery-chewing was fun too
The supporting cast was all good even if I wished some of them had more to do, but that just comes down again to this not being a typical whodunnit and being more about Marta's story
I loved the running gag with none of the family remembering where Marta is actually from
A fun ole time for sure, I really enjoyed it. Maybe a little overhyped yeah but that was mostly my own doing. But I love a good whodunnit and this delivered so I can't hold much against it at all
I did think most of it was a liiiiil too obvious. As soon as we saw the segment with the creeky stares it was painfully obvious that Ana de Armas was involved so I was like pleaaaase don't let that be the big surprise but thankfully they got that out of the way right away. It was a really weird structure for a whodunnit which I appreciated and yet would've almost liked it to be a little more straightforward as strange as that sounds. I kinda wish it focused on the suspects more and motives were discovered as we went and everyone's movements the night of the murder were traced more and more as twists were lobbed at us. CHRISTIE STYLE! But this was just a different type of movie, definitely the Ana de Armas show which was fine
I'd love to see Craig back in sequels which I think they plan on doing. He was really fun in the role and I'd love to see them play around with new settings and ensembles
I thought the cast was great even if they were a bit underutilized. Didn't bother me THAT much, that's just the way it goes with whodunnits. You don't spend thaaat much time with the suspects rly. Each person brought their caricature to life and that's all that's needed
The mansion is a few towns away from me and whenever they'd drive anywhere I'd recognize the locations across a lot of MA so that was fun. My dad and I had fun pointing them out
Great theater movie even though the armchair detective grannies in front of me and aunts behind me loved using their outdoor voices to incorrectly solve the case at every turn
