anyone else watched any of this yet? New series on Prime (which I think is just a one-off?) directed by my man ESMAIL

First two episodes were v intriguing. Esmail's directing style is really obvious here (in a good way), though if I'd compare the show itself to anything it'd be Black Mirror

the mystery didn't really live up to the great intrigue/build-up of the first half of the season, but tbh it was worth watching for the directing alone

and the end shot was p perfect

I love Esmail's directing, seems like he'll have a lot of fun with it like Robot. Love that the eps are so short too, should be a breeze

Just saw today actually that S2 is coming in May with Janelle Monae

yeahh still not sure how I feel about this being an ongoing series but I'll give it a shot. You'll see what I mean I think

Five minutes into ep 3, the direction is so good. Esmail took every single shot and found a way to make it interesting. Literally every shot is unique

They used The Thing theme, that was dope

And ofc no great modern show is complete without a Radiohead piano cover

Ep 8 was easily the best one. I thought for suuuure the detective was gonna die. Loved Colin getting caught. The music and editing as each of them explored one half of modern Geist was so great

Done. Agreed! It was really solid throughout. The direction and music are the highlights but the acting was great and I liked the mystery, even if it ended up being super simple. Colin’s unraveling was so satisfying, what a great slimy character

Loved the last shot so much. Best shot in the season has to go to the amazing ep 8 shot when the future timeline aspect ratio merged into the past’s. That was so cool
