I'm reorganizing the forum a bit with more of a focus on the Mafia section and our archives. I think we'll get a good mafia boost. Bot was successful, Drr's is coming very soon, and ATTWS III is in the works a bit. Should be fun, and a good way to promote activity
I made a stats thread with the results of each EN Mafia so far. Now we can all easily see what we've been each game, who won, etc
We can use this thread for whatever we want really. Discussion about past games if we want, coming up with ideas for future games, talking about the stats, etc

Pretty funny that the town is 3/3 so far with EN mafia. The town almost always lost back on EN. STEP IT UP SCUM!

Probably because I haven't been mafia in any of the three!
Also you were mafia in one of them and died right away because the town kicked your ass

So I really want to run an IRL mafia with my gaming club that's actually more complex like the ones played online, because the only ones I played IRL in the past (as I'm sure is the case with everyone) were really simple. Role-less scum, one doctor, one cop, that's it. I think basically I'm asking you guys what you think of my plan and if there are any improvements you think I could make.
My plan is I'd probably start with like a set-up session at one of our meetings just to explain the extra roles and then give everyone their roles outside the room one-by-one. That way I can explain their role more in-depth to them while being out of earshot and also tell the mafia who their fellow scum are and their roles. Then when the action actually gets started I'd probably set a 15 minute time limit for discussion during the day, then at night start by waking up all the scum first to quietly discuss who they want to off (with godfather making the ultimate decision) and then once again calling everyone out one-by-one again to get their night actions. Here's the main thing... I don't think I'd be able to use bus roles because for roles like a scanner or cop, I'd have to call them outside again which might raise suspicions. That shouldn't be a big deal but just something I was considering.
So.... any suggestions from the much-more-experienced? | Please ask me on October 1st if they woke me up. I've literally never heard it before and I'm definitely not tired of it. |

Oh and the other problem I was kind of thinking of was the fact that I wouldn't be able to moderate whether people talk or not unless I have a "co-host" so to speak, just to watch over them at night to make sure no one opens their eyes | Please ask me on October 1st if they woke me up. I've literally never heard it before and I'm definitely not tired of it. |

Bryce was just asking me similar stuff about IRL games. He did a few while he was on vacation. Maybe he can shed some light on how his went
I recommended that he should add an SK though. That's an easy enough role to moderate and should be a pretty fun element in IRL games

I feel like the mafia archive makes more sense here in the mafia board than the general archive

Didn't see this.
Honestly, it's simple and you can add in more roles.
Obviously adding in like a bus driver and stuff requires you to write things down to make sure you have it all right.
We played a game called "Epic Mafia" (that's what my high schoolers called it). Basically what it is is all playing have a sort of role.
Mafia (tried it with a roleblocker who was bulletproof to mask SK better)
SK
Mirror
Bomb
Cop x2 (one sane, one insane)
Doctor x2
Busser
Governor (just decided to make this guy bulletproof so there would be SK, Mafia, and a townie with BP and shook things up)
Vigilante x2 (1 kill per game)
Basically you can use a lot of roles, almost all that don't require verbally telling them things. I wanted to try a cult but SK was better to understand for noobs.
Anyways, it all went well and they loved it...played for like 10 total hours over the course of the trip..it was great and when you add in busser and mirror, it's honestly not helpful for them, but fun to watch! haha

looooool even KC liked it and he doesn't even play Mafia. That's gold |
I do actually. Few years back I tried to make a spin-off mafia series for URTV but nobody understood what it was, so I tossed it. I play them pretty actively on one of my other forums and am in queue to host one on there in a few weeks.
Dunno why I haven't tried here yet. Fun to watch though! |
