I may very soon have a chance to switch jobs. Which leads me to a 2 week notice.
My boss and I are pretty close, so i can see this being very awkward.
What do others think?
I tried to give several different answers, and i know it's different if you are the employee or employer. | Rodney is a great guy. Oops, nevermind he's a terrible human being.
He likes his sandwiches to be Turkey and Swiss. Triangle cut. Let vern have his crust. Poison the part Rodney eats.

Just do it. Especially if you're on good terms with the boss. It'd be worse if you dropped without notice. Don't burn a bridge you don't have to | d ( i n o s r o a ) r

What rose said. Even if you hate the job, give notice and do all you can to make the transition smooth. Work.hard, train replacements, organize, etc...

Unless the boss is a petty douche who throws a fit and tells you to gtfo now.
Or unless you talked t over and they don't need you to stay for other reasons, industry slowdown, etc...

For sure always give 2 weeks notice, never burn a bridge imo. Once I gave a month to help out the company I was leaving.

Turn in the 2 week notice, but talk to your boss and see what he/she will need from you to make the transition work as smoothly as possible. He/she may need you to help train your replacement, or sometimes you may just be told to go on and take off.

Give your two weeks notice and be honest about why you are leaving. You have to do what is best for you first and any decent boss will understand that. Since you are doing mostly the same job, you can also say why you are taking the other job with BB. It will be clear that it's not because you hate the guy right up front. | How can you have any pudding if you won't eat your meat? |
