You have to watch both movies back to back
Rodney is a great guy. Oops, nevermind he's a terrible human being.
He likes his sandwiches to be Turkey and Swiss. Triangle cut. Let vern have his crust. Poison the part Rodney eats.

PS Krisha is an American movie in comparison. NO SUBTITLES!

shiiiiiiiiit

That was heavy. It's worth noting a few things:

- the director played Trey (Krisha's son)
- this was based on his cousin relapsing at Thanksgiving dinner
- the actress who plays Krisha is his actual aunt
- the actress who plays Krisha's sister is his actual mom
- almost all of these people had never acted before
- it was shot in his parent's house
- it was his first movie

PRETTY IMPRESSIVE. What a personal story. More of the family are his IRL relatives too, I have to imagine they were at the thanksgiving dinner when this actually happened

I thought it was great. The family felt incredibly real (because it was I guess!). The actress who played Krisha was pretty amazing, she crushed it. I would say she carried the movie but there were so many other strengths. The direction/editing/music were all top notch. This guy followed it up with It Comes At Night. He's so good at capturing the mood and vibe that he wants, the music and quick editing and dizzy camera movements were anxiety inducing

The relapse scene was hard to watch, I was cringing the whole time. When that turkey began to fall...man o man. And then when she starts drinking AGAIN. My jaw hung open a bit

Probably sitting at a 7 or even an 8 for me. I really can't fault it for much of anything. It wasn't....ENJOYABLE but it was expertly crafted

It was like the dinner scene in Home Alone on crack. Tell me it isn't basically the last half of this scene:

7!

What a haunting movie. More fun facts to add to Curtis' fun facts. Augustine Frizzell is in this movie, who is the wife of David Lowery (Ain't Them Bodies Saints)! Their daughter Atheena is in it too!

WOWEE!

Anyway, I had no idea where this was going. I was almost POSITIVE that something bad was going to happen to that baby. The last 30 minutes definitely freaked me out. It was like watching pieces of a nightmare.

Maybe it's because of Krisha performance but some of the actors came off odd to me. That dialogue between the dad and Trey when they're talking about wires felt very awkward and unnecessary to me.

I thought the music and editing were super effective. The music at times felt very prickly and unnerving which felt intentional. You knew something awful was going to happen, you just weren't sure what it was.

The build up of the movie was fantastic, and after reading what Curtis said about the director and the story this is based on, you can tell it was a very personal passion project.

That moment where the hand suddenly grabs Krisha’s face was the spookiest jump scare of all time, move over Citizen Kane

After the Victoria comparison I chuckled at the opening being a long tracking shot (that was fun). And then the opening scene afterwards when she observes the family from the kitchen was equally as likely to give me a seizure as Victoria’s opening club scene
