Okay, Melancholia edged out a couple of others and was not a surprise fave... but joke's on you guys. I watched The Insider and Moneyball and they were both great!

Anyway, watch and rank Melancholia - good watching!

Brian, I regret to inform you that I didn't choose movies which were on netflix, or free, etc. You may have to pay. Or, maybe join Ahoda's "server" or w/e that is. Not clear on that. Good luck, tho! At most, it's like $3 or $4 probably. Totally worth it, I'm sure!

It says it's on Hulu right now, you could prob do a free trial or whatever to watch. Plus Ahoda usually gets these movies on his plex server in a few days,
Rodney is a great guy. Oops, nevermind he's a terrible human being.
He likes his sandwiches to be Turkey and Swiss. Triangle cut. Let vern have his crust. Poison the part Rodney eats.

Shameless plug but if you sign up for Hulu, do ebates first. They'll give you $25 for signing up for Hulu. You can cancel after the trial membership if you want but it's basically free for at least the first month or so.

I have this movie on blu-ray. Excited to watch it again. It's visually stunning.

The director -Lars von Trier- is a trash human being though. But, at the same time he's an excellent director and his movies are unsettling and brilliant.

For example, his most recent movie premiered at Cannes 2 days ago (The House That Jack Built featuring Matt Dillon, Uma Thurman and Riley Keough) - and over 100 critics walked out. Just straight up walked out. Which never happens at Cannes. Though it's obnoxious to walk out of a movie where the director is present (especially at a prestigious film festival like Cannes), reading what the scenes were that made them walk out I could totally understand. That's some incredibly dark and depraved stuff. I'm super stoked for it though - I've always loved his stuff.

Still my favorite of his though is Dancer in the Dark. Given Bjork's allegations against Von Trier it makes it a little harder to rewatch given how exploitated Bjork's character is in that movie. It's brilliant storytelling none-the-less.

Anyways, back to this movie. If you like Melancholia in any sort of way - def give his other stuff a shot! :-D

I made it most of the way through the movie before when I fell asleep. Towards the end, I wanted the world and the movie to end.

Of his works, Dancer in the Dark was better.

EDIT: And I like arty films.

I suffered through almost the entirety of Stalker as well, but got frustrated when they went through what seemed like 80 hours of wandering around then decided not to go into the room when they got to it.

Melancholia was similar to that.

Again- I love me some arty flicks. Melancholia feels very Russian in its slow slow slooooooow presentation.

So my final vote for it was 3. Bad and I regret time on it, but I'd throw Dancer in the Dark in more 7 territory if you want to see a different one of his films. Granted, be prepared to be depressed.
