Keiko, the Killer Whale better known as Willy, was released into the open sea from Iceland in 2002.
He wasn't able to integrate with the wild Orcas, but followed some of them to Norway. There he sought human contact and allowed kids to ride on his back.
Just over a year later he died there.
Was releasing him a mistake or was it the right thing to do? | |

It was a mistake since the animal was brought to need the care of people and lost it's animal instincts. Once released he was doomed. |

so the mistake was actually capturing him in the first place. Unless he was born in captivity, in which case yes, then it was probably a mistake to release him. | |
