This show is pretty different. It's kiiiiiiinda case of the week but they spill into each other and some seem to be forming overarching plots, reminds me of the way Hannibal did it
One thing that keeps standing out to me is how well the characters are blocked in some frames, seems a lot more intentional than most shows. The whole look of the show is very Fincher and makes me wanna rewatch Zodiac
Big Ed casually talking about young pussy and the marked difference between anal sex and cutting someone's throat and penetrating the wound while he was making coffee was something else. Something else entirely.
Shoutout to that score at the end of ep8, I really liked it
This show is great. It’s subtle. It’s fun to see them start to figure out what exactly their department is supposed to be as they try to define serial killers, even little scenes like them coming up with new terminology is fun
It's so bingeworthy. I don't think I've watched an opening season so fast since Rectify. It's interesting that both are really quiet shows without crazy cliffhangers and shit but they kept me going through episodes rapidly
Man this show is good. I loved these last two episodes episodes
They do this strange formula where they'll start a case of the week type thing in one episode, leave it unresolved, then finish it up partway through the next episode. Then in that same episode they'll start up a new case and finish it partway through the next. It's pretty cool and worked really well
Holden's dissection of that tree cutter in the interrogation room was masterful, great scene
The slow and steady character development is really great, mostly with Holden and Bill obviously. I hate when they're at odds. I like how Holden slowly grew a big headed about his work towards the end of the season, and that synthy piano score that they play when he's in a destructive mood (and just walking down a hallway usually) is really great
Hospital scene with Kemper was fucking tense. Imagine if he killed Holden there and this entire first season was leading up to his death. I'd have been so shocked. Great acting from Holden in the last few scenes
Really sad that I'm done with it already. I want more
