- WHY WOULD THEY KILL OFF THE BLACKFISH? They could've easily had him swim (or row) away and escape like he did in the books. Like I don't even get that uppity about show changes usually, but this would've been so easy to do since he was, y'know... right by the water. And then he just decides to suicide. It would've been really cool to have him escape with Brienne/Pod
- WHY IS JAIME STILL CERSEI'S BITCH GODDAMNIT! Where is the burning of the letter. I thought Brienne's return would start that character change but now I really don't think it's happening. So basically his arc's reverted all the way back to S2
- Beric why are you still alive. At least it made sense why those Brotherhood members were suddenly acting like assholes...kinda. Still seemed like a purposeful LSH tease tho
- CLEGANEBOWL OFFICIALLY DEAD GET UNHYPE :///
- the Mereen scenes were terrible (as usual). All that time spent on that awful 'joke' scene only for a few seconds to be devoted to "o look the masters are attacking" and "o look Dany's back yay". The editing seemed really sloppy
- The Arya stuff was so, so, SO bad. The waif turned into an absolute cartoon villain right down to the monologue that buys Arya enough time to escape. And then she ends up killing her by...luring her into her dark hiding place, which she was already in a few episodes ago. Why didn't they just have the waif go straight there instead of drawing it out with the whole stabbing episode (which made Arya look p dumb)? Why did the waif not wear a face almost the entire time (I get they want to show the actor's face like with Jaqen but still, it's kinda silly considering facelessness is their entire schtick)? Why did Arya just leave Needle in the hiding place anyway? How the hell did she walk all the way to the House of Black and White with a reopened stomach wound?
it's weird having an episode this bad come off the heels of what's been a really solid season to this point. I hope/think the next two episodes will turn it around tho with what's still to come. Hardhome director's coming back for those
It was pretty bad. I liked GoT because it escaped cliche territory. Did GRRM run out of ideas or are the showrunners out of decent material? Like the Arya scene was cliche after cliche as Boc said. From the villian speech to the I'm Arya Stark of Winterfell which had no impact on me and was not as big of a moment as I think they wanted it to be. Cliche "transformation"
Basically Jaime is actually arcing backwards, Arya is somewhat arcing backwards. Dany story went in circles and got drawn out just so she could have a Dorthraki army and show up oh right when they are being attack how convenient.
Ugh this just did not feel like an HBO show tonight. Maybe I'm just being a snob. lol
Wait, so Aero dies instantly by a little dagger in the back, and yet Arya survives 2 stabbings in the stomach + rolling down numerous sets of stairs...

I completely agree with you.
Except, it's NOT GRRM running out of ideas (the released sample chapters for the new book totally show that the books have the s1-s3 quality to it, it's simple laziness from the showrunners.
This episode also proved why I didn't discuss theories, I knew it was going to be underwhelming.
Everyone was making up theories about Arya=Waif, that the Waif was literally not a real person, but a symbolic manifestation that was actually Arya's 'test'.
Also, many people speculating that the dude behind the Waif under the tunnel, was Syrio Forel... but nope, it was just a random Braavosi.
I knew we were going to be underwhelmed. Story intertwinings and good character development is not implented into D&D's brain.
Arya acted 2 episodes in a row super out of character, I was literally hoping that Jaqen would be standing in the room, because I knew the alternative - and the alternative ended up happening. Such crappy storytelling, I literally cannot believe it.
But next episode looks AMAZING though. Hardhome director is coming back + it'll be together with the Battle of Blackwater Bay/The Battle at the Wall as the only few episodes to only feature one storyline!
