Would you rather know the date of your death, or the cause of your death?

...but if I have to pick, the date. The cause would make me a paranoid mess. The date might actually help to know

The date would just be horrible, reminds me of Flashforward (one of my favorite shows of all time).

But yaw, hopefully it'd be natural causes and I could chill

Cause would be super stressful because if it was like an elevator crash you couldn't go up any elevators.

I'd pick the cause. I mean, on one hand, if dying was all you thought about, it could kind of screw you up. But it could kind of help you, couldn't it? Because you'd know that everything else you can survive.

both would fucking wreck me tbh. But date would be a little bit better

If I just knew the cause (say it's cancer, heart attack, etc) I'd be extremely paranoid the rest of my life that that timebomb is gonna go off at any moment

Whereas if I just knew the time, at least I'd be PREPARED. Although it'd still suck in a different way because in the back of your mind you'd always be cognizant of that hourglass running out

Date. Allows you to plan. Cause is too vague and open for interpretation. You'd probably end up with some major anxiety issues either way; avoidance of anything related to the cause or general fear of wasting your remaining days. I feel like the latter of these is probably more sustainable because it's par for the course of the human experience. We sort of do that anyway.

It'd suck if you got something very close to now, but I guess that's the gamble!

I was thinking the same thing - if it's an auto accident you're just going to be paranoid anytime you drive/are driven for the rest of your life.

It depends really. If you got a far off date itd be good. Not so good if it's close but you can always get some sweet life insurance for your loved ones.

If the cause is something like choking or falling down it would suck but if it's super obscure like being attacked by an alligator in a swamp it wouldn't be as bad. Or maybe you find out you die of old age.

I went with cause before I really thought about it. Because I don't know if I'd want to know what my expiry date is. You can at the very least try to avoid the thing that causes your death.

Like plane crash = don't travel by plane. Unless that just means a plane will crash into you. :P

Elevator crash = take the stairs

car accident = well that could happen any time you get in a car

choking = just eat soft food for the rest of your life lol

if it's by disease, there's nothing you can really do to avoid that anyway. I mean, it'd probably affect your attitude to fight it and stuff. I think that'd be the worst if you found out the cause and it was some disease.

Gotta admit. This thread creeps me out. It's a damned if you do and damned if you don't situation.
