No, I'm serious. It's very similar to Elder Scrolls in the sense that they all have the same lore but all take place at different timelines so you aren't spoiling yourself or anything. They do a good job of giving each title it's own identity.
I played FO3 after the trailer dropped for FO4. I really enjoyed it a lot with no prior knowledge at all besides the most basic things. It wasn't perfect and I didn't get the same EXPLORE EVERY LAST THING bug like with Elder Scrolls but it was fun

I can't wait. If the amount of awesomeness-escalation between Oblivion and Skyrim is any guide, the amount of awesomeness-escalation between this and the very awesome New Vegas will be mind-blowing.
My only regret is that I have to work on the 11th and 12, and can't marathon it.

while I'm disappointed that I won't get to play this game right away, I'm also a little bit glad. Because I know that it will eat up so many hours of my life, and I won't want to do anything else for weeks...it happened with Fallout 3, and still does when I replay it.
