The first finalist is... One Minute! Here's what it has beaten:
Round 1: "A man provides" by a vote of 7-0
Round 2: Badger gets busted by a vote of 7-1
Round 3: Half Measures speech by a vote of 4-1
Quarterfinal: Hank finds the RV by a vote of 7-0
Semifinal: Jesse shoots Gale by a vote of 6-1
|
Later, Hank is in his SUV in a shopping center parking lot. His cell phone rings. "Two men are coming to kill you," says an electronically altered voice. "You have one minute." Panicking, Hank dials Gomez while he scans the parking lot. He goes for his gun, then remembers it's been confiscated. One minute passes, and just as he relaxes he spots one of the Cousins, Leonel, who shoots out the rear window and puts a bullet in Hank's arm as Hank hits reverse and pins Leonel against another car. Marco, striding toward Hank's driver's-side window, fires multiple shots and hits Hank in the side as Hank grabs Leonel's gun and dives out of the car. Writhing on the ground, Leonel tells his brother, "Finish him." Marco walks back toward Hank, shooting a passerby along the way. As Marco reloads, he drops the "Black Death" bullet on the pavement. Hank empties Leonel's gun in Marco's chest, but his vest protects him. Marco shoots Hank twice in the chest. Badly injured, Hank drops to the ground. Marco aims his gun at Hank's head, then reconsiders. "No. Too easy," he says, walking away. Hank grabs Leonel's gun. His hands fumbling and slick with blood, he tries to load the "Black Death" bullet. Marco returns with a silver axe. As he swings at Hank, Hank fires straight at Marco's head. The axe blade lodges in the pavement as Marco falls to the ground, dead. |
And onto the second finalist... Crawl Space! Let's see the path that that has taken:
Round 1: Box cutter by a vote of 8-1
Round 2: "Shotgun" montage by a vote of 6-1
Round 3: Walt describes the perfect moment to die by a vote of 3-1
Quarterfinal: Walt and Donald meet in a bar by a vote of 6-1
Semifinal: Intervention by a vote of 6-1
Each finalist has demolished all that has stood in their paths. But now, the two juggernauts meet at last. Which is the best Breaking Bad scene of them all?

Going with Crawl Space here. That's not just my favorite BB scene, but one of my favorite scenes of ANYTHING ever. Everything is so perfect about it

I didn't want to vote in this, I just want both to win. Crawl Space is probably the defining moment of Walter's sanity going bye bye, and had me on the edge of my seat with all of the audio "tricks" (the ringing phone in the background, that weird hum/mechanical chop of the hot water heater or whatever it was) but the ending of One Minute had me off the edge of my seat, in my floor, and praying that Hank came out of it alive.
So I begrudgingly cast a vote, and it's for the ending of One Minute.

I went with crawl space because it is a better example of what makes this show great.
I love how every little detail is emphasized to add to the tension. The soundtrack in particular is amazing.

not surprised to see the ACTUAL better scene lose here. it is a very close call, I admit that. both scenes have stunning cinematography. the camera shots and editing is just beyond "movie" standards, by far i'd say. highest/most/best quality i have ever seen on a TV show. the "music"/sound is amazing. the "heart beat" sound in "crawl space", just as much as the gunshots, the broken glass, the axe sliding on the ground and the *honk honk honk* sounds in "one minute". loved it. both the scenes content was imperative for the direction and/or certain branches in the story arch of the show. (just thinking, i guess it almost accounts for ANY scene of breaking bad, seemingly EVERY scene had a point and was tied to an overarching branch in the story.)
'interesting, great analysis henrick...so, why do you think "one minute" is slightly better than "crawl space"? what makes you say that?'
well my FrIENdz, it's the content. "one minute" provides more of a thrill. it is less "foreseeable" as in "what's gonna happen in the next 5 seconds?! could be ANYTHING" though you know that it's just a shootout and people will be dead by the end of it, but you have no idea how what where when and why. and right THEN the hollow point dropped to the ground. OOOOOOH, the bullet falls and lands right beside the twins foot. the impact on the ground making an echoing sound. when hanks sees it he knows this is how it's gonna be, now or never dude. kill or be killed, one shot. all in. boss)
also, it had few dialogue. not sayin i'm a fan of less dialogue, hell naw. but actions speak louder than words. and the ending of "one minute" is one of the most vivid shootouts i have ever seen. the atmosphere is so thick, you'd need a hollow point to pierce it. OH, right, that's what hank did.
*flashback to the southern dude who sold the vests and bullets to the twins, sitting in the back of his truck*
"ugh...YOU'RE WELCOME"

srsly jeff. no offense at all, well, a little i guess, not trying to be a huge jackass here, but....you have practically killed the chance of epicness getting recognized like twice in this "tournament", with your random "i have nothing to say about the content, i just post a reason as to why i voted when it wasn't even my place to vote, because of the attitude i put forward"-posts.
you're given the right to vote and with that attitude your bring forward it's a good example of why democracy is really a fail-system. (:
again, not trying to be offensive. just sayin. rly it's not just you, it's the rest aswell. what a lame "let's discuss the best scene on breaking bad"- "debate" are we having here? there is no debate.
'i voted brownies because i love brownies.'
'as much as i love brownies, i had to go with pretzels.'
you get the hint.....though maybe it's just me being too demanding. i guess that's actually it. when i find a subject that i have a lot of interest in i'd like to look at it closely, talk about it for hours and exchange thoughts on the issue. after all, if we were to meet in real life, lol, and we'd have a discussion, we'd be not just saying 'brownies because i love brownies', and that would be it, no. there would be at least a little back and forth. telling people 'brownies because i love brownies' again, going into detail maybe, but also listening to others saying 'i had to go with pretzels' instead, trying to show some understanding for the other guy.
that's what a debate should do. make all parties' "points" clear to everyone involved, then have a back and forth talk about how or why it is good or bad or etc...
i guess i just missed that here a little. again, jeff, rly no offense man. you canadian kook (: | "There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. Some kind of high powered mutant never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die."

In any case, Crawl Space is the better scene because One Minute was too cheesy to really be a "great" moment in my opinion. The whole turning back to get the axe was almost a cartoon moment. And grabbing the bullet off the floor. It was a stretch for the show's realism which I wasn't altogether a fan of personally.
I think you just have to accept that not everybody likes the same things you do for once.

Yeah while One Minute was a great action shot and had possibly one of the most intense moments in the show I think Crawl Space was possibly THE most intense moment in the whole series. While the next episode really dropped that suspense right from the beginning, Crawl Space's ending was just pure genius and had me going WTF especially with Walt's hysterical laugh while Skylar looked at him and all the possibilities of what might happen to them in the next few moments was just amazing.
Also, don't hate on me for just giving an answer I didn't have time to respond, in fact, I wasn't even going to say anything that day cause I made the vote just before I left.
