So I just got one of these things and don't have any games for it. I have enough money to buy a few. Which ones should I get? | "So, uh, what are we saying here? If we save LA from a nuclear bomb, then you and I can get together for dinner and a movie?"

Link Between Worlds is the obvious suggestion. Or Pokemon, if you're into that. I enjoyed the Harvest Moon and Animal Crossing. The Ocarina of Time 3D remake was solid but no real reason to play it again unless you love it.
There's a lot of good games, just depends on what kind of game you like.

I never have played any Link/Zelda games, but they do seem kind of cool. Similar to Fire Emblem. Do either/both require having played earlier games or no. | "So, uh, what are we saying here? If we save LA from a nuclear bomb, then you and I can get together for dinner and a movie?"

Definitely not. I mean some of the fun of the new Zelda comes from the nostalgia of having played the SNES version, but it's also a great starting point. Same with Fire Emblem, really. Honestly it seems like most 3DS games are that way - standalone without relying on knowledge of previous games in any given series.

Oh yeah, there's a decent amount of demos on the eShop you can download just to test some games out.

Zelda games rule. The old ones are some of the hardest games I've played

Yeah, I got the new one for Christmas and I can't wait to try it. But I'm finishing Dark Moon first. <3 |

Yes, it is a port but has a 9th world. It has only button controls (thank god).
