Who here has had the exterior of their home painted? Tell me about your experiences. Did you hire people or do it yourself. Do you regret not hiring or regret not DIYing it? How long did it take, what color did you go with, are you considering painting yours or content with it, etc

I painted my living room green and it looks horrible and patchy and I never fixed it and probably massively devalued my home.
This has nothing to do with exterior painting but there you go. |

I’ve only painted a room. It was kind of a pain. Taping is a pain in the butt.
Good luck! I hope we’ll be in the same boat too | "So, uh, what are we saying here? If we save LA from a nuclear bomb, then you and I can get together for dinner and a movie?"

I just turned my house from poopy brown to BLUE last year. I paid a local company to do it and it wasn't cheap (although much cheaper than full siding replacement, which was my initial intention). It took them two days and I don't regret it, tho I may not be the best person to ask cuz I'm very lazy DIYing just about anything around my house

Are you having your house painted? I recently (like a month ago) had my upstairs interior painted. I got a referral from a friend and they were great! I'm going to get the downstairs painted soonish.
I did pick really neutral colors - probably could've gone a bit bolder but I tend to go with "spa colors" and I think of walls as a canvas. I can use furniture, art, etc to add splashes of color! I'm now looking for art. I remember being told by a relative of a Fire Chief never to put heavy things above your bed in case of an earthquake (and I live on the west coast), so looking at collections of 2/3/4 smaller paintings/prints.

I was not going to do it myself. I knew I would lose interest in the middle of the project if I did, plus professional painters will make really clean lines.

I've painted interior rooms a few times but never exterior. We need to! But it's one of those things that's never quite a priority, plus its probably asbestos siding so hiring someone might be more complicated | d ( i n o s r o a ) r

I’ve never heard of anyone painting the outside themselves, def seems like something you want professionals to do

I just turned mine from baby poop green to BLUE this week!
Definitely could've waited but we figured why not, fresh start etc. The green was fine but we went with a blue-grey and a pure white trim instead of off-white. Very glad we hired people, a bit pricey (tho the cheapest of the three quotes I got by a mile) and they moved super fast. Only took them two days. I've heard of people painting exterior themselves but I'm glad I didn't have to, mostly because painting the high spots on a ladder would be annoying af
Looks pretty slick! Happy with the results
Ever interior wall is the same pale-beige so that'll be next. That's one I'll do myself. Definitely gonna start with the bathroom and I wanna make the office more of a vibe, no idea what color to go with yet tho

I've never touched the interior paint though and really don't have much motivation to, so my office is still rocking the baby blue from what was clearly a baby's room

I had to paint the entire interior of house when I moved from VA a couple years ago. I enjoy it but it's definitely a pain.
I've painted exterior before as well. I hate heights so if you doing s2nd story it's doable if do don't mind being up on 32 ft ladders.
If youre actually painting siding, don't. I think it looks awful. I'm going to assume you're doing soffit and fascia boards.
I'd recommend getting a couple quotes and see if you'd rather do it yourself. It would probably take a weekend to do it yourself.
Also consider thw coat of supplies and tools needed to DIY it. |
