Ehhh, more of a slog to get through than I was expecting. I’ll always welcome more but I do think franchise fatigue is setting in for me, which is bad news for a meta franchise that’s supposed to be trying to reinvent itself. Felt super formulaic outside of the opening twist. I just think they could use a big structure overhaul somehow
It has some good sequences, the train, ladder, bodega. But the kills weren’t all that unique. And it had no balls at all, cheapening stab wounds makes everything feel less severe. Six returning characters and all six lived, five new suspects and three were ghostface lol. They seemed to have no interest in hiding who the killers were, the whodunnit aspect wasn’t there at all for me
Cringey dialogue too, worse than usual. I hope the 7th one rounds out the Sam/Tara trilogy and any subsequent ones are standalone. New casts, no legacy characters, no motives tied to previous movies etc. I know it’s the signature of the series but it’s starting to bog things down for me
