wasnt horrible. wasnt great. in terms of Ant-man movies 1 > 3 > 2 imo. this movie gave some star wars ROS vibes. kang was great, paul rudd was good, rest were bleh. MODOK was horrible.
big problem with this movie is the enormous power differential between Kang and Ant-man and how even with extreme suspension of disbelief it is really hard to buy Ant-man having any sort of chance to hold his own against Kang. makes the final act feel just not satisfying whatsoever
Kang as a Big Bad has a lot of potential to be interesting and they did pick a great actor for it since Majors seems to have that necessary range to portray all the variants of Kang. but making Kang the sole enemy of Ant-man in a movie was a pretty bad choice. not sure what they COULD have done instead but this just wasn't it.
overall, its not a movie i'd be super keen to revisit but it was fine for what it was. 6.5/10
I feel like GOTG3 is gonna be Marvel's last gasp at this point. Even Black Panther 2 stunk (although obv the unfortunate circumstances didn't help there). If Gunn's vision actually pans out I could easily see DC making a comeback and overtaking them as the premiere comic studio
That said I'll probably watch this at some point just for Jonathan Majors since he was the highlight of Loki
