Hey friends. I HAVE AN IDEA

Fanfics were so huge back on FI. The biggest part of the site for awhile. When they aren't meh'd and shrugged off, they can be really fun. I've been wanting to bring them to FE in some capacity. Wikey has his GoT type thing and people have been really enjoying that, and there have been a few others like it

I've also been wanting to do some sort of ATTWN forum game, apart from my ATTWS mafia series. I also had my ATTWN fanfic back on FI and that was a lot of fun. I really like attwn!

So I had this idea to combine them. A collaborative AND interactive And Then There Were None/Harper's Island style fanfiction.

It's murder mystery whodunit style story, for those who aren't aware. A dozen or so people arrive on an isolated island for a weekend and stay at a lavish mansion. People are killed off one by one in a variety of ways etc.


Here's what I'm thinking right now:

First, we have people sign up. Anyone who wants to, as long as you'll contribute.

The gist is this. I'll make a thread a week for all of us to post in. Each person will write segments in the POV of their character, and their character will be themselves, as accurate or exaggerated as you wish.

Each of us will create and post different segments of our stories. You can post as many or as few as you wish, and yours can be as long or as short as you wish.

Then, the interactive part. Each week, let's say on Friday's, someone will be killed off. All of the writers and readers will vote for which character and writer they want to see killed off that week. They'll send the votes to me privately, I'll tally them, and I'll tell the person that they're being killed off in private. Then that Friday, no one but myself and the player knows who is going to die, but we all know someone will. People can write their stories around this by putting their character in potential danger and all that to tease the audience and each other, but by the end of the day one person will write themselves out of the story and kill themselves off in a gruesome fashion.

This will continue each week until there are only a few left. What I'll probably do is choose someone to be the killer beforehand. That way that person can write their segments with that in mind, while still not revealing it. That'll make the writing stronger and make more sense at the end. At the same time, everyone else would be writing their segments to mislead each other and cast a fair bit of suspicion onto themselves and all that fun stuff.

The voting thing works out perfectly. If someone is slacking, not posting enough, or their segments aren't as good, they'll be killed off. As it goes along the more active and entertaining players will be left, and then they'll start to drop.

It'll be really fun to privately vote characters off to be killed. I can see it getting pretty hard to choose who you want to see die next.

People can include some other fun things, like graphics and illustrations or video and audio. Whatever they want. People will wanna spice their segments up to make sure they aren't the one getting killed off that week.


So that's the basis of the idea right now. The whole thing is collaborative, so I want how it all works to be collaborative too. The few people I've talked to about this so far are all really interested, so I feel like we'll be able to get some good numbers for this. Let's talk it out and smooth out how it'll all work. I have no idea when we'll start this. We have GoT/Lab/Mafia all going on right now with SI coming soon. Not every person here is apart of each thing though. We'll have to talk about and decide a good start date


I won't do sign ups yet, this is more of an interest check. The more writers, the better. If you don't feel like you'd be any good you can give it a shot anyway. You'll just likely be killed (:


THOUGHTS?

A big part of it would be your characters interacting with other characters without ruining what that writer has going on. We would need to figure out how to do that exactly

Some people could talk outside of the threads and agree to have their characters go off together and bring a story somewhere else

Or you could do something say like....my character in a segment sees Boc throwing something into the ocean. Then it's a challenge passed to Boc to fit that into his upcoming story somehow. We would have to do things like that without making it ridiculous or ruining continuity or anything like that. It's of course important to make sure everything you're writing makes sense and flows with what other people have said

Instead of me being a writer and the moderator, maybe someone else who doesn't wanna write can be the moderator. They would tally the votes, inform the person that they died, and pick the killer at the start of it

I was thinking we could all have character header graphics. Just something we could post at the top of all of our entries. Could be a picture of us with a TITLE maybe. Like these Harper's Island promo pics. I also did something similar for my ATTWN fanfic that some of you may remember



It'd be cool to have character archtype titles for each of us with some sort of graphic to post each time. Could have a memory wall type thing like this too where the dead players get bloodied off of it

Also we should each have a different posting color like HAM did to differentiate each person! (:

loool I forgot about that. There were about 20 rotting corpses stuffed in there

Maybe myself or Drrr or Mal if they feel like it can make a nice map of the island graphic as a reference. I like doing that for all my games as you guys know, like the room layouts. I like having the visuals as a guide

Having more than just the mansion on the island will allow the stories to go to different places. Simple things like a swimming pool, tool shed, cove, garden, tennis court, hedge maze, etc would be fun. A map that includes all of this stuff so we all know the layout would be cool

OR we could simply all build the layout of the island ourselves in our stories and go off of each others and attempt to keep the continuity
