OFFICIAL FE'S THE AMAZING RACE RULES
1. Each leg begins with a pit start and ends with a pit stop. The general goal is to not be the last team to arrive at the end of each leg, as you may be eliminated!
2. There will be nine legs in this race of which seven will have eliminations.
3. If you finish a leg in first place, you will receive a ten-minute bonus to be used towards your finish time at the next pit stop (except the finale).
4. If you finish a leg in last place on a non-elimination leg, you will receive a Speed Bump in the next leg, which is a task only your team has to perform.
5. In general, these are the types of tasks you'll see along the race:
Route Info- This is generic information to help you get to your next destination.
Detour- Your team will have a choice of two tasks to complete. You may switch tasks after you begin one, but it may cost you time to swap once you begin one of the options.
Roadblock- This is a task only one team member can perform. You will get a vague clue about the task, and once you message the host which team member is performing the Roadblock, I will give the full instructions. You may not switch assignment of a Roadblock once it's been made. *Each team member can do a maximum of 5 roadblocks!*
Fast Forward- A Fast Forward task is typically the first clue after arriving at the leg's destination. If you are the first team to successfully complete the Fast Forward, you will be able to skip all other tasks of the leg and go directly to the pit stop.
6. Along with tasks, you may find special items of interest along the course:
U-Turn- A team that arrives at a U-turn may select another team and force them to do both sides of a Detour. These are generally found after you complete one part of a Detour, and you are given notice at the beginning of a leg if a U-turn is in play that round. These may be single U-turns (where only one team is chosen) or a double u-turn (where two teams can be chosen by two other teams).
Yield- A team that arrives at an unused Yield may select another team to take a 30 minute pause in their leg.
7. Any failure to comply with rules, including incomplete tasks, will result in a three-hour penalty.
8. When submitting completed challenge screenshots, please include your FE board profile for verification.
9. FLIGHT RULES: Please submit a screenshot of the eligible flight you are selecting. You must select a flight that leaves after your airport arrival time when contemplating your Pit Start time and the airport transportation. Plane costs do not come out of your team’s race funds. If you submit a flight which you are not eligible to be on, then you will automatically be placed on the latest-arriving properly booked flight and will receive an hour penalty.
If you elect to take a flight with a layover, you may suffer a two hour flight "delay" due to risk of missed connection, weather trouble, etc. Flight delays are based off the following odds per each layover on the booked flight:
Layover <= 1 hour = 50% chance of delay
(1,2] hours = 40% chance of delay
(2,3] hours = 20% chance of delay
(3,4] hours = 10% chance of delay
>4 hours = 0% chance of delay
Each layover per flight itinerary has its own delay calculation and they do add up. For example if I have two layovers that are 90 minutes each, then there is a 16% (0.4 * 0.4) chance I land four hours later than originally intended. Calculations are made for the entire plane, so if your flight is delayed then so will it be for other teams on your plane.
10. Any other rules may be added along the race at the host's judgment.
11. The first team to cross the finish line at the end of 9 legs will win the $20 grand prize!
Let me know if you have any questions :)
| Edited for new rule regarding layovers in flight itineraries. See yellow text in rule 9. You might need this for the next leg! |
