Variety came out with an early review that can pretty much be summed up as "same old shit".
I'm so excited., I would avoid reading it though because it gets a little spoilery, and not the good kind.

Same old shit in a good way? I liked the old shit so I'm cool with that |
No the guy didn't say it in a good way, but I liked the first season and I'm happy to get another season of it. He also said he didn't really enjoy the first season because it was "cartoonish" (or some word like that).
Idgaf. I'll probably love if. It looks much darker regardless, as it should be. I think the reviewer only watched the first 5 episodes so it's not much to go on anyways.

Let's make sure we mark each post with a spoiler tag and designate episode numbers.

Episode 3, which is all I'll watch today probably:
|
holy lol at the senate meeting. Looks like they did their homework. I enjoyed the scene with whip girl smoking a cigarette. Very telling.
I also think that Christina is digging her own dirt and is playing a long-con. Well see. |

There have been a few reviews out now that all detail the same thing.
The discrepancy I've chosen to make is that these reviewers are only getting the first 6 episodes. So out of 13, if four are dedicated to build up- the rest can be action packed.
The story structure last season was that the first third was a whirlwind, the second third was used for build up, and the third was resolution (and some more build up/open ended stuff).
If this is the last season, or the season ends in a major event (like the death of Claire or something), then a slower set up and build up could work better.
I'm optimistic, but cautiously optimistic.

General character/acting thought (Season 3 spoilers-ish):
|
Doug Stamper is one of the best written and best acted characters on television. Motherfucker needs an Emmy yesterday. |
