okay, thread revival!
Been going through a history-phase recently, am currently reading a book about the history of Korea as well as North Korea's current regime, and next I'm planning on reading a Ken Follett epic about the black death in 14th century England.
BUT ANYWAYS - about podcasts. I'm currently listening to a podcast that so far has 249 episodes (and is apparently not even halfway through yet and it's been going on for over 6 years) about the history of Britain. Simply titled; 'The British History Podcast', it narrates the entire history in a very intriguing way, starting off with the invasion of the giant deer, the cannibals as well as the lore of the Celtic people and he's planning on going on till WWII. With his most recent episode (episode 249) he's only at year 899.
I'm currently on episode 4 - it's about Caeser's invasion of Britannia and the subsequent conflict that followed between the Romans and the Celtics. Pretty fascinating stuff.
Bringing fiction into the matter - GRRM got a lot of inspiration from British History, so I bet you'd be able to find a lot of parallels between real history and ASOIAF/GOT.
