title is to mislead us.

we're going to get an hour recap of Gendry rowing.

I'd honestly be perfectly fine with that.

WTF was that?!?

What did they do to Doran and Aero?!? I'm so sad right now! Why the fuck would they do this, fuck you D&D, seriously, fuck you.

To me, it wasn't even the frustration I felt when Oberyn/Ned died, it's more just frustration that instead of trying to clean up the mess of Dorne from S5, they just straight away throw it all in the trash as if it's nothing.

Pretty dissapointed in the episode as a whole, the deus ex machina scene with Brienne/Sansa was super cringe-worthy, and I already explained how I felt about Dorne.

The rest was good, but nothing all too special

That final scene though was fuckin amazin! Probably the only real superb scene of the episode.

I felt like it was necessary since they had fucked up Dorne so bad.

True, it just really felt cop-outish to me.

But yeah, I'm just super bitter considering the Dorne/Martell storyline in the books is my absolute favorite. So after seeing 3 pivotal Dorne characters get axe'd... it just leaves a really, really bitter taste in my mouth.

I dunno how to feel about it. Ofcourse I am angry, but like you said maybe it was for the better.

It's a double edge sword.. no, it doesn't even deserve the word 'sword' in it. It was a double edged shit. They were going to go wrong either way.

So I guess I'll just have to settle with this shit.

Just saw this gem on Reddit:

Quote
I think the problem is the writing.

They had strong performances by the cast portraying Oberyn Martell last year, and his brother Doran, and they were well written.

The "sand snakes" though ...

I don't think the actresses were BAD per se, just.. miscast. And badly written. Their lines swing between pandering and fan service to just groan worthy.

Oberyn made Dorne look flashy, dynamic and fascinating last season. Then we went to Dorne, and the wheels fell off. Dorne apparently is about Sand Kardashians.

Gone is the lore of Dorne being the only kingdom to never submit to the Targaryans, Dorne withstood the great dragons, Dorne has mighty warriors, Dorne the glittering jewel of the south in the desert .. Then we get to Dorne, and it's a dumpster fire.

I feel like they were really fucking around in that tent.
That Dothraki squad there? Easily could be a sitcom about the Khal trying to rule while his bloodriders constantly say stupid shit.
"What's better than a beautiful woman naked?"
"Sacking a city and taking all of its beautiful women as slaves."
"Cutting off the braids of your enemies, and displaying them to the Dosh Khaleen."
"FINE! Seeing a beautiful woman naked the first time is like, in the top 5."

People pointed out that Trystane goes with Jaime and co onto the boat to go to Kings Landing at the end of S5 while the sand snakes stay behind. But suddenly tonight the two sand snakes were on the boat with Trystane (:

Spoiler+

I'm starting to think Dorne was really just a giant joke by D&D. They can't think fans take this seriously, do they? It's a bizarre phenomenon.

honestly outside of some logical inconsistencies I thought it was a pretty solid stage-setting episode. Dorne is shit but we already knew that last season. I think all the other storylines look pretty intriguing

Yeah. Dorne aside it wasn't bad at all.

I didn't like the last minute save from Brienne. It felt too clicheish for GoT. What did you think of the scene?

it is but I don't see the point of just copy/pasting posts from there (:

Brienne taking over the role of a spearwife would have been better than Sansa picking a lock. Like, the fuck was that?

The structure of the premiere tried to put too much stuff within a scene. It felt super awkward at times.

They could have left the Essos schtuff for Episode 2, and focused more on The Wall and Kings Landing (so that includes Bran). And then episode 2 could have been Essos. Cause now we only got a glimpse of everything, and it kind of sucks considering we know how much they still have to cover. And it kind of ruins the flow if they only show a certain storyline (like the Wall) briefly.

But anyways, the premiere showed:

Jaime/Cersei
Jorah/Daario
Martell/Sand
Dany/Dothraki
Arya in Braavos
Davos/Melisandre/NW
Sansa/Theon/Brienne/Pod
Ramsay/Roose
Tyrion/Varys
Margarey/High Sparrow

And based off of the preview for the next episode, it seems like we're going to get:

Bran and co
Cersei/Robert
Sansa/Theon/Brienne/Pod
Arya in Braavos
Ramsay/Roose
High Sparrow/Jaime
The Wall
Tyrion

So it seems like it's going to be a bit more simmered down than the premiere, which is good. But it will still continue being an awkward pacing.

AND BALON WATCH CONTINUES!!
