I'm gonna be PISSED if the books aren't faithful to the show!!
That made me lol and cry hysterically at the same time. I'm so sad that the show will be ahead of the books now. :(
That kid is me when I read Curtis' post.
Here's the Winds of Winter update by GRRM for the peeps who haven't read it. I read it the night it came out and was so sad for GRRM himself and for the fans.
Since tonight seems to be the night I've finally shown my grieving raging bitch qualities regarding how pissed off I was about the show cutting Arianne Martell, I was wondering what the book readers thoughts are of her? And what you guys think about the show just cutting her masterful storyline out in general.
Fair warning, this includes some big ass book spoilers, so y'all have been warned.
Well I mean the Martell's do have a major part in the overall story in the books, sure the sudden inclusion of them was a bit out of nowhere, but Oberyn's presence in ASoS was the build-up to the Lannister/Martell conflict. So it's only better we get to see stuff from the Lannister; as well as the Martell side. To even stuff out, and that was essentially the entire build-up that A Feast for Crows was leading up to.
AFFC/ADWD
+
Also, the reason why it's important to the overall plot is because DORAN MARTELL (yes, the fucking badass who everyone underestimates) reveals a lot of game changing plans, plans that are going to make the Lannister's wish they had never been in power.
The Arianne/Aegon wedding, plus them sacking King's Landing is probably going to be one of the highlights of The Winds of Winter, as well as the end of the Lannister Reign.
So I wouldn't particularly call that not integral to the overall plot, even if it's not certain if it's going to happen like that or not, just the fact that that's what the Martell's are planning is a big fucking deal and ya better believe it is. Also Quentyn's quest to find Daenerys, and him ruthlessly getting roasted by the dragons once he does find her, is going to create a big disrupt in the entire Martell/Targaryen alliance that's been present even before Robert's Rebellion, it hasn't ended. And I'm quite certain Illyrio Mopatis and Varys have a pretty big part to play in that entire plot-line regarding the Martell's. Hence Varys' reason to kill Kevan and Pycelle at the end of ADWD
FUCK, I'm getting myself all worked up on how ridiculous it is that the show cut all that. :(
GRRM seems burned out and doesnt really care. Not much motivating him to finish when he is drowning in money and fame. He just wants to retire to some beach and live out the rest of his life.
He should get a ghost writer to actually do the writing and just manage the direction.
Well I have to disagree with that, you know that he's planning on writing an entire Targaryen re-imagining after he's down with asoiaf?
Meereenese Knot
+
Also, you know when he was writing the Meereenese Knot, that he wrote practically 600 pages worth that he cut. Just think about Quentyn, he wrote alternatives, one where he arrived in Meereen weeks before Dany's wedding, one where he arrived the day before her wedding (which is the one he chose), also one that he arrived weeks after her wedding. He writes alternative situations and picks the best ones, and he practically re-writes each page atleast once.
That's some serious dedication right there, he probably cares more about his series then any author has about theirs.
The most recent teaser is in the first link I posted.
But based off of the house teasers and the today-released one, here are my thoughts:
Stark banner: The Pink Letter!! :-D
Lannister banner: The Faith Militant is going to create an uprising
Targaryen banner: The Khalasar is sick of Daenerys' shit.
The House of Black and White: I think it's inidicating that Arya is going to be sent on her first assisnation mission!! :-D
