As a kid, these scenes were kind of traumatic.
Littlefoot's mother in The Land Before Time.
Macaulay Culkin in My Girl.

And as adult,
poor Hoban Washburne in Serenity.

If I could pick 5, I'd add Mufasa and Boromir.
