This was the show I chose to watch after my poll. Just finished season one tonight
VERY good! I've never seen a show so sad that still manages to be so funny. The main performances are incredible, the characters are so fleshed out and realistic, and the family dynamic is one of the best I've seen. It was pretty much a perfect first season
Who else has seen it? I'm gonna start season two asap |
Twenty years late, I'm finally watching this.
I finished Chuck on New Year's Eve (fun show). Just started season 1 of Six Feet Under last night. I'm a third of the way through it already. I like it so far. It is funnier than I expected it would be. And the cast is great. Something is up with Brenda (Nate's love interest) and I'm not sure what. |
I liked the reveal that she was probably the one who burned down the house across the street. |

I have 5 episodes left of season 1.
I like that each member of the family has their own storylines going on and that when they do get to actually interact with each other, it's a treat.
Also, why are Claire's peers always so mean to her? High school kids.
And |
that the fire at the home across the street has seemingly been revealed to have been started by another party now. It was a surprise when it was implied that Brenda might have done it. And I didn't expect that the new owners would have done it either. I hate that Gallardi guy lol |

I saw a recommendation online to only watch 1 episode a week like it was intended and that will help with how depressing it is so I think I will do that. I'll let you know what I think of the show when I finish it in 64 weeks! |
That makes sense I guess. I've been watching two episodes at a time. lol I have one episode left in season 1.
I might take a short break between seasons.

SEASON ONE was pretty well done.
|
There was enough resolution that each character was left in a good place at the end of the season, that if the series had ended then, it would have been satisfying. With just enough tidbits of stuff to deal with in season two, such as Nate's diagnosis, Claire's relationship with Gabe, and of course Gillardi and co. I have some thoughts about him, but I don't want to share them just yet lol |
I said I'd take a break between seasons, but I'll probably start season 2 later tonight lol

I finished season 2 last night:
|
This one didn't leave everyone in a mostly nice place. We got a bit of a cliffhanger in that we don't know Nate's fate after his surgery. But it was nice to see the family come together like they did. They don't always show it, but there is real love there. I don't like Nate and Brenda together, I kind of hope that's over for good. But there's so much drama surrounding her and her family, that she'll probably be back. Plus, it's too early (3 seasons left) for Nate and Lisa to be the happy family with their baby Maya. Speaking of too early, I was surprised that Kroehner seems to be over too. I was thinking that would have been a series' long storyline. They could back in some form. Didn't seem like Mitzi would be one that would give up easily. lol It's also nice to see Rico own part of the company. I keep waiting for an episode to open with one of the characters that we are familiar with. They did that with this season's finale, but it followed Nate to the hospital to visit that patient who ended up being the death in the opening of the episode. |
I do enjoy all the characters but I think that Ruth and Nate might be my favourites.

the season 3 episode I watched last night (The Trap) had so many guest stars in it that I recognized from other tv series. Being from before these other shows came out makes it not that surprising, but it was still crazy to see them all in the same episode.
Dwight from The Office
Ted from How I Met Your Mother
Cricket From It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia
Haywire from Prison Break
plus Kathy Bates and Ben Foster.

I have about 3 episodes left of season 3.
I really like it.
But I'm a little bit concerned about
because I accidentally read something I wasn't supposed to when I googled the name of the funeral home who wanted to buy them out to get the spelling right for one of my previous posts.
It was one of those questions Google shows that are related to what you're looking up and it said...
|
Who killed Lisa Six Feet Under? |
So I've been expecting it, but I'm not ready for it.

I finished season 4 today, which means I only have 12 episodes of this series left.
Season 4 found me liking
|
Brenda, quite a lot. And Brenda with Joe. I liked Joe. Joe deserved better.
But if Nate and Brenda can be happy together, I'm all for it. I can't see them not ending up together since she's hung around this long.
It was nice to see more from Rico and Vanessa too, even though Rico was a bad boy. I do kinda hope they get back together, but at the same time, I would be fine with them both moving on.
I said I was enjoying Ruth and Nate in another post, but I feel like this was Michael C. Hall's season. The carjacking episode was a season highlight. I am also enjoying David and Keith's relationship. I was annoyed with it in earlier seasons. And it was nice seeing Michelle Trachtenberg in a handful of eps. I love the guest cast that pop up each week.
George Sibley has finally gone insane lol. Or has he always been? Poor Ruth. But she can handle it. She can handle anything.
Claire is Claire. It's nice when they show the little mother/daughter moments between her and Ruth. But I like they have given her her own space and circle of friends now that she's in art school. It's nice having Billy functioning normally too. I hope it lasts. There's also a reason they keep bringing him back. Just as we followed Brenda's story even when she and Nate had parted.
As for Lisa's death, it seems obvious that her brother-in-law at the very least had something to do with her death. Is she even dead? Nate did bury her, didn't he?
This is one thing I hope we learn all of the details about, but at the same time, since we didn't see it happen on screen, I'd be fine not knowing for sure what happened. It happens in real life all the time.

I've got 4 episodes left, I'm about to watch the next one in a bit. But something happened at the end of the last one that I'm nervous about.
I'm watching the dvd boxset lol and the packaging for season 5 shows a cast photo on the back, |
with one major character missing. But also I feel like the show will end the way it started, with the death of one of the members of the Fisher family. And they did a lot of comparisons to Nate and his father throughout the series. I don't know if it's an instant thing or it will carry on over the last few episodes but I'm not prepared for it. Someone told me what they do in the finale with the rest of the main characaters, but I don't have details. But it's part of what made me want to watch this series. |

I have two episodes left!
|
Nate's funeral service...felt like I was right there with the family through all of it. This was also the first episode that didn't start with a random death scene. That kind of bugged me a little bit to be honest, but I quickly got over it. It would have felt out of place.
For a show that's so depressing, with lots of emotional scenes, I haven't teared up once lol but George Sibley stepping up to speak at the service (when David couldn't) almost got me! |
I will definitely be done this weekend. Maybe even by tonight.

I have finished. I loved this show quite a lot.
The ending had me feeling a little bit emotional, I think because I knew this was the end of these stories and then of course seeing
|
how everyone eventually dies. And that's just sad. But getting to see glimpses of their lives before that happens was nice. |

I would have liked some of those scenes to last a tad longer, but it really did feel like their lives flashing before our eyes that way, as Claire drove off to wherever she was going, at the end of her life. It was a very cool way to end the show and be so connected to what the show was about. I'm also glad that they didn't sell the business in the finale. |
I'm going to go through withdrawal now so I'm probably going to watch some of those dvd features ha
