I only read my first Stephen King book in 2015. It was 11/22/63. I couldn't put it down and I think I finished it in less than a week. SO good. I definitely want to read more if you have some recommendations. |
I got through Under the Dome, which is massive, in record time for me and books.

I found the book Pines at a dollar store, seemingly randomly. But I've since seen multiple copies at various dollar stores. I had seen one episode of the television series Wayward Pines, which was intriguing, so I figured the book would be good. It's the first in a trilogy, and it's a thriller that's an easy read that moves along at a nice pace that I'm enjoying. We'll see how this first one ends, I might have to hunt down the other books.

I went outside for the first time in 4 days. :P I've been sick. Do you know what my reward was?
The second book in the Wayward Pines series! One copy on the shelf in the dollar store. Same chain, different store. But I'm super excited! Now I just need to find the third one.

Don't finish Wayward Pines (the show). It just gets worse and worse as it goes on |
I don't plan on watching it. :P Thanks for the warning though!

Finished it a while ago but update, this is one of my favorite books I've ever read. Absolutely awesome.
Since then I've read Stephen King's The Shining which was fine. Interesting ending. And now I'm in the middle of Stephen King's It, which is really good |
Well, this gives me hope that maybe the next time I start to read it, I'll get through it! lol

Christian- The Stand really is fantastic. If you don't want to fully invest in slogging through again, there was a decent miniseries put out in the 90s or so with Molly Ringwold and Gary Sinise and a few other folks that was relatively decent. That way you only lose like eight hours or so that it ran if you hate it and if you like it, then you can go back and read the detail in the book.
|
I've looked at that every so often at Walmart lol I'll buy it when it's cheap.
I know that I'll like the story. It just takes me forever to read a book. And that one is super long. I'll start a book, but if I skip a night because I'm tired or I want to watch something on tv instead, I'll lose interest. It happens very often. I'll only read when I go to bed. :P And sometimes as soon as I pick a book up, I'll fall asleep.
I'm still reading book 2 in the Wayward Pines series, but I'm almost at the end. I am enjoying those!

Almost done with this book and I really hate it...... |
It's not like a normal book. I liked it, and I like that you did check it out.
I just bought The Leftovers, so I started reading that yesterday. I'm going to rewatch season one again when I'm done, then start season 2. No need to rush through the series when it's only 3 short seasons. :P

Has anyone read the book Flashforward? Based on the show. It's one of my favorite shows of all time so I'm thinking of buying it. |
It sounds to me like you should buy it. It might be interesting to see where the show came from. And the books are usually better than the movies/television series. Did that show get a proper ending? Might be another reason to read the source material.

The only book that I've read that wasn't as good as the movie/series (imo) was The Leftovers. The tv series takes it so much further and it's a completely different tone.

I just finished reading a book called The Silkworm, which has become a television series, along with other books in the series. And it's by an author called Robert Galbraith, which some of you might know is a pseudonym of JK Rowling. lol I've never read a Harry Potter book in my life and when I realized this was a JK Rowling book, I was immediately like "ugh...really?" But turns out it was an enjoyable detective story and now I want to read more of them. So I will?
