Okay, the following THEORY contains information about season 5, and a small fact about tonight's episode, so don't click if you don't want to know.

The theory is that Terminus will actually be a good place and Joe's group will fuck it up. This is based on the following: Season 5 begins with Rick leading a group to Washington DC Gareth is a character who will be introduced in tonight's episode as a resident of Terminus, and he (but not Mary apparently) will become a regular in season 5. If they're departing Terminus at the start of season 5, I'm assuming that means the story is done after 'A'. And there's no way they'll give us an entire cannibal arc plus Joe's group taking vengeance on Rick in a single hour episode. Especially considering we're probably going to see every regular character tonight. Also if Gareth is main cast and he's joining Rick's group on their trek to Washington (which yes is conjecture but I find it very likely) then he couldn't really be a bad guy. If he were a cannibal they'd never let him join the group. They'd just kill him. My prediction is that the Joe story is going to come to a close tonight or in the premiere of season 5, and will involve the destruction of Terminus rendering it uninhabitable. Gareth joins the main group (everyone possibly minus Beth) as a kind of refugee. Joe's group end up wiped out and Daryl rejoins the group. All the 'clues' about Mary being a cannibal ("let me make you a plate") are just joaks thrown in by the producers because they know we're expecting cannibals now, since it's about the point in the comics where that happens. I think the cannibals will come in season 5 though, stalking the group on their way to Washington.

There doesn't seem to be any animals being farmed there so what exactly would she be cooking and how could she have enough to just give to strangers?

They COULD just be cack-handed about it and try and give us a cannibal revelation TOO QUICKLY much like they did with the CDC. You know, when the group gets settled in and suddenly they're all about to die. That remains one of the weak points of season 1 to me, we should have spent a good few episodes AT LEAST at the CDC and with such an inherently interesting character as DR JENNER. My fear now is that they'll do this again with Terminus cannibals. But the Gareth thing still doesn't make sense if that's the case

I don't see them introducing a new group in the finale. Probably Joe's group will be the 'claimers' and Daryl will realise they are very very bad people if this happens. Also I don't see child rape happening on this show, lol. Consider how they sanitized the Michonne/Governor violence. They couldn't even have a woman being raped (although Maggie was threatened), I RLY doubt Carl is gonna get a rapin'.

I think maybe we haven't actually seen how bad Joe's group are yet. Maybe they are actually unbelievably violent and we'll see that for the first time when they get to Terminus.

There's just no poetry to this show

I mean we had Carl's "who ARE we" and the whole flashbacks juxtaposing Rick playing SIMPLE FARMHAND and the present in which they may not be as sadistic but are by now MORE DANGEROUS than any of the groups they've gone up against

It's kind of a WALTER WHITE transition by which having systematically eliminated all threats they become the greatest threat

Maybe Rick should have said "... I am the danger." lol

But seriously writers, what. "Who we are" writes itself. "Screwin with the wrong people" is as gay as a teenage nerd playing with legos.

THAT BLACK MARK ASIDE, this was the first episode I found genuinely difficult to watch ... I did enjoy Rick's righteous violence but the lead-up was rather unpleasant. lol!

I wonder if Beth being given the SHERIFF HAT is FORESHADOWING and in season 5 we'll find out she has become the leader of Terminus, still wearing the hat

THOUGHTS ON GIMPLE/SEASON 4:

He's clearly done a lot better than whoever was showrunner for season 3, but what I rly like is how he's brought the entire SERIES ARC into focus again. The MESSAGE if you will is that Dale and Herschel are wrong, Shane and Carol are right. And Rick's JOURNEY has been from the former to the latter. You can't have democracy and a simple, sustainable lifestyle. It would be a TRANSGRESSIVE message (it's anti-peace, anti-humanist, pro-violence) except it only rly applies within the fictional world of zombie apocalypse
