I always thought of it as a sci-fi/adventure film.

The first film certainly feels more like a horror film now that you think about it, it's all about the dinosaurs chasing down the humans and killing them, just like Jaws/Predator/Alien (other horror movies).

I saw Jurassic Park with my parents when I was 8-9 years old, but I wasn't allowed to see Jaws, Aliens and Predator until much later.

Jurassic Park is light horror?

Alien = Sci-Fi/Horror
Jaws = Thriller/Horror
Jurassic Park = Adventure/Sci-Fi/Thriller

I think what some people are trying to argue here is that Horror = Horrible.

Meaning, since Jaws, Alien and Anaconda are not horrible movies, they can't possibly be horror movies.

Seriously though.

Deep Blue Sea also has an evil shark in the movie, but it's not horror. It's how the film is structured.

It doesn't have anything to do with whether it's animals or ghosts in a film that make it a horror film.

Jaws is Horror, but Deep Blue Sea is not.

Edit: It doesn’t matter though. I don't think everyone's being serious.
