| Guys what happened to Innocent until proven guilty? |
I think this is the golden rule, but doesn't stop people from lying in court/getting away with murder.
I can see why so many women are afraid to report rape because if there's not enough proof for the rape and just her word nothing can be done and it'll most likely lead to the public thinking she lied about it. I'm not sure what's the percentage of falsely reported rape, but I don't think it's as high as people think it is. But since there have been cases from time to time when men have been wrongfully convicted of rape it's obviously a complicated case.
We had a case here in Sweden not too long ago when four guys had their way with a girl on a party or something, I don't remember all the details of it but apparently she had repeatedly told them no. She reported them all for rape and the case went to court. The court eventually freed all four guys of all charges because there was not enough proof to convict them of rape. The girl was accused of being a liar, just as many others got really angry at the court for letting the guys get away with murder. This case in particular got a lot of debate over here because at first the four guys were going to get charged for rape, but when it came to the supreme court or whoever makes the final call to decide they freed the men. So yeah, if the justice system can't determine whether rape is actually rape I'm not really sure how to solve this issue. I mean, it must be really hard for women who are raped and feel they can't do anything about it.
