Voted for X-Files, Boardwalk Empire and Deadwood.

Deadwood is up there with The Wire. I have only seen the first season. One of my friends really recommended me Boardwalk Empire.

And if you haven't seen X-Files you have missed something. It's possible that the show has aged though, but give it a shot.
