So after watching the trailer a couple more times, I think I'm actually pretty hyped for this. |

Saw it over the weekend. The movie was pretty damn solid, and it having nothing to do with the mainline games was a very large reason why (imo, a movie based on a mainline game would have impossible expectations to meet). It let this story speak for itself, even if it is a very simple story whose twists are pretty obvious, though |
| somehow, I did NOT actually see the final "Pikachu = father" twist coming, even though it was hella obvious once it was revealed. |
Not sure if I'd want a sequel to this |
| and since Pikachu turned back into the father at the end, I have no idea how the hell a sequel would work |
but as a standalone film, it was solid. If you've ever cared about the Pokemon franchise, you'll enjoy this movie. |
