I always wanted a ferret when I was young but I've heard they suck. And they have a lot of health problems which adds the money.

pretty much this!
i fulfill my desire by watching cute ferret gifs. otherwise i've heard they smell (stronger than other animals), are kinda destructive, and are pretty expensive to maintain. | | |

Gerbils are cute too but they only live like 2-4 years.
