Looks like there's a lot of different factions, that's scary! I agree that the roles discarded should be looked at. I don't rly know what most of the roles do by just reading their titles tbh.

Ok so who particularly loves or hates being scum? :p
Just wondering what the general preference is, like, do most ppl hate being mafia? Rather scum than some shit town role? Killing role above everything else?

Christian, your role seems like it was pretty powerful. |
It was something about submitting a name each night and being told whether I suspected that person was an Alien. I didn't know if Aliens were the villains or if they were third party or what. But I would also scan as an Alien, so I opted to not take one. I already come off scummy enough as it is. lol
|
Agreed. "lol" :p | |

I think it was completely random, quoting KC: "Balance is, as you'd expect, not guaranteed and this is sure to be a positively silly game."

Just checked most of the discarded roles (couldn't find deputy), and all of the town roles seem pretty shitty except maybe the jailkeeper. I don't think hero/kingmaker are all that great (not sure who said so). Kingmaker is kinda cool, but if it's one-shot then meh.
PORL's alien role would have caused all night actions to be redirected to one person (1-shot) which woulda been pretty funny imo lol. Matt's role would give a certain satisfaction too.
In general I think the discarded scum roles are better than the discarded town roles, which is probably in line with a general preference to be town rather than scum.

Thanks for the link JJ, can't find commuter and tourist though, can anyone tell me what those mean please. |
Tourist compulsively targets someone every night with no effect.
Commuter can like hide 1 night and be safe from all actions.

I would think, no enabler = no effect on anything at all and ppl will just keep their roles. With 139 (?) cards, it's very likely there isn't even an enabler in the draw.

* and Tricks did not die as the enabler, so there should be no effect imo.

Wiki says: "During the day the Gladiator can choose someone. Usually done in the same manner a daykill is, he can CHALLENGE <TARGET PLAYER>. All votes are reset. Only two players are now votable, the Gladiator and his target. It is almost always one-shot. "

Still trying to find a decent way to track all this information.
Unless I figuring it wrong, everyone had essentially a 16% chance of landing two Anti-Town roles and a 36% chance of landing two Pro-Town roles. That leaves 48% chance for everyone to land one of each.
So that means it pretty unlikely that someone landed two Anti-town roles. |
I'm not sure how you managed to run that calculation, but if it's accurate good job. |
Been awhile since I've had a probability course, but my thinking was as follows assuming that everyone was the first one to draw roles.
83 Pro-Town Roles (60%)
56 Anti-Town Roles (40%)
Chances of getting both Pro-Town roles should be (60%*60%=36%)
Chances of getting both Anti-Town roles should be (40%*40%=16%)
That means the chances of getting both would have been 48%.[/QUOTE]
There is something with i.i.d. observations (the draws of the two cards are independent/memoryless) and conditional probabilities (wrt what ppl discarded and what they would prefer) that should probably factor into these calculations. Not really relevant (sry) but i find it intriguing lol.
