Before moving on and starting nominations for a new album, I thought it would be fun to rank the albums we listened to throughout 2019. I have worked out the average score for each one based on how we voted.
Here are the results:
6th Place
Snail Mail - "Lush" – 3.1/10
Coming in sixth and last place with a well earned 3.1 out of 10 is poor Snail Mail. Not only does their band name suck, but nobody here liked their album either (including me, the dickhead who suggested it in the first place).
5th Place
Window Panes - "Little Giant" – 4.2/10
In Fifth place we have Roo Panes, some guy from England. I had never listened to him before this album, and between you and me I never want to listen to him again! The score for this one seems to indicate many of you would agree with that sentiment.
4th Place
First Aid Kit - "The Lion's Roar" – 5.9/10
Our first entry to score above 5, and also the first album we listened to back in July. First Aid Kit are a duo from Sweden who play Americana. We have Herm to thank for introducing us to Swedish Americana. I thought this was going to be the winner before I started adding up the scores. They narrowly missed third place. Speaking of which...
3rd Place
Frightened Rabbit - “Pedestrian Verse” – 6/10
In third place we have Scottish Indie Rockers Frightened Rabbit. I think a few of us were pleasantly surprised by this one. It ended up getting a respectable 6/10.
2nd Place
Car Seat Headrest – “Teens Of Style” – 6.3/10
Narrowly missing out on the top spot is Car Seat Headrest with Teens of Style, with some lo-fi rock. Personally this was my fav of the bunch.
And finally...
1st Place
Barnes Courtney – “The Attractions Of Youth” – 6.4/10
In First place we have Barnes Courtney. From what I recall, this was a cleverly arranged album, with a good track listing and even an intermission halfway through. I'm sure Barnes Courtney will be honoured that some rando's on a small internet forum bestowed the honour of first place upon him. Our most popular album of 2019, everybody!
So there you have it. Thanks for participating in FE Listens throughout the last half a year everyone. We shall be doing this in 2020 too. Consider nominations open, and feel free to use this thread!
