Some local band in Hull recently released their new single...it's called "Snowflake"...and it is, in my humble opinion, a pile of shit.
That's not unusual, many bands put out shitty songs all the time. HOWEVER, some local crusader has taken to facebook to post a long tirade against this band because of this song. You see, they don't much like the song title and lyrical content. Quote below:

Dear -------
After hearing your latest single 'snowflake' think I needed to touch base with you guys.
You need to cut out this 'snowflake' business. I don't know if it's a misguided attempt to create publicity through controversy or you actually believe the toxic rhetoric you are spouting, just cut it out. The term 'snowflake' is a heavily used far and alt right wing term to marginalize individuality and promote toxic masculinity behaviour and virtues, things -------- should be battling against. We should be helping and enabling our young people in this country not calling them names and telling them to deal with it.
You shouldn't be a mouth piece for fascists or the right wing you should be taking them on in your songs, that's true pop protest.
At the moment you are coming across as bullies and need to stop it, get rid of the 'snowflake' stuff, apologise and move on, nobody will think any worse of you and you probably through your natural charm and wit win the fans you have lost back. |
My first reaction after reading this cringe inducing post was to go and check out the song in question (a good demonstration that there's no such thing as bad publicity). I made it about 10 seconds into the song before turning it off. It was fucking awful, as expected. But it was hardly offensive.
So I figured I'd check out this bands twitter. And this is where the real cringe began. They had spent the last week or so retweeting various clips of 'snowflakes' having meltdowns. For example, they retweeted the viral clip of that Trump Protester screaming at the inauguration from back in 2016, with a message saying something like "hahaha, look at this snowflake, man aren't they dumb. Here's our new song about people like this haha"
They've also tweeted some anti-sjw stuff while promoting the song. It's so forced.
It's the lamest shit I've ever seen a band do to gain publicity. And the worst part is that some people actually fell for it. I hate my towns music scene, it fucking sucks. People are still arguing about it now...complete nerds. Absolute cringe on every side. This is the least offensive song I've ever heard. The only controversial aspect is that it fucking sucks. | Wouldn't be hard to find the song if any of you do decide to look it up. I redacted the band name because I want to spare you from their crappy music |
