It was great to see Doug back, though it seemed pretty clear to me he was dead in the S2 finale. I am not sure his resurrection was planned all along!
I thought it was very good, probably the best season so far. Franks schemes seemed to have actual opposition this time, and his victories didn't rely on his enemies acting like retards.
Also, the whole Russian arc was amazement. Vladimir Putin was a great addition to the cast! I hope he will be appearing in the show again. |

Sorry to dig up old threads my dudes, but it's gotta be said: This season was absolute shite
I had a feeling it might be when I saw the showrunner left last season but oh boy...it surpassed my worst expectations.
HELP HELP THE SECRETARY HAS FALLEN

I thought the first half of the season was solid. The Underwood/Conway election story which carried on from S4 was really good, and those two episodes centered on the vote itself were the best of the season imo. The moment when Frank and Claire realized they were losing was great.
But the second half of the season was atrocious. Every character suddenly became retarded. I think from the start, the writers had decided they wanted to end with Claire as President at the end of the season, and didn't care to think how they would get to that point. It was painfully clear they were going for that from the first ep. It could have worked, but the way they handled it was plain dumb.
Franks plan, to get himself deposed, to the point that he would leak damaging information which connected him to a murder, was quite possibily the dumbest thing the show has ever done. And then they tried to dress it up like it was a genius move. No. Claires betrayal at the end made no sense, and seems like it was just thrown in to shock the audience. Cathy getting pushed down the stairs was ridiculous. Crappy twists like that belong in soap operas.
This season was like House Of Cards: Dallas edition
The dialog was atrocious from start to finish.
This season was so bad that I don't even think I'll watch it next year, and this was an unmissable show for me at one time. I really do wonder if they should have ended at S2 when Frank won the presidency. |

I'm three episodes in and I just can't get into it at all. It feels like it's going through the motions, and I find myself tuning out while watching. Honestly, 2/10.
I read the spoilers for the finale...meh, don't care anymore. I'll probably watch to the end, if only for the lolz. Hopefully this show has another hilarious moment in store, like Frank pushing Cathy down the stairs.

Oh, and I don't think this has anything to do with the lack of Kevin Spacey either, as I thought last season was lame too
