I was a fan of both this finale and this season overall, and I think it was a big step up in some ways! But hey, I was also a fan of Mr Robot S2 (:

Overall, this season is on par with S1 for me. But if comparing finales, S1 beats S2

They took a lot more risks this year, and sure, not everything landed. But then we got episodes like Riddle of the Sphinx and Kiksuya, which knock anything from S1 out of the park.

I think this finale tied up everything well, and thinking back on it, there was a lot of foreshadowing going on throughout the season.

Stuff I liked:

- MIB's final fate: I too expected him to die but it makes sense he survived in hindsight. "Death is a passage from this brutal world. You don't deserve the exit." I wouldn't be surprised if that was the end of his story.

- Bernard finally snapping / his realisation that he was only imagining Ford: It a very cool moment when he contemplated being the last of his kind.

- Robot heaven: Glad Akecheta and some of the hosts got a happy ending. Also, Dolores putting Teddy in there too! That was the perfect end to his arc.

- Trojan Horse Clementine: That scene was disturbing. Though I was really confused when Armistice shot her and everything went slo-mo with sad music. Was we supposed to care about Clementine? Cuz I didn't.

Some things I thought were meh:

- The rapid jumping between the timelines in this ep was a tad too much

- I'm not sure what to make of the post credits scene (I too almost missed that!). I feel like it was one twist too many. Granted, it was chilling when the host version of MIB's daughter told him they were in what was left of 'his world'.

- Whilst I think the writers are still on top of the show and know where they are heading, I think this season demonstrated that the longer this show goes on, the more at risk it is of becoming a convoluted mess that gets lost in its own mythology.

Of course, they might know where they are going, but it's hard for the audience to work out. Okay, Dolores and Bernard are out in the real world now, and that's clearly going to be one of the major focuses next season, but other than that they effectively wiped the slate clean here. Will the park even feature next season, and if it does, what purpose will it serve? I'm guessing things are just going to be reset, but nobody wants to watch the hosts gradually regain consciousness all over again.

The park is supposed be the main setting of the show, but it feels like the story they are telling has moved on from it.

- Elsie dying, thank god. Every review/recap I read praises her as the clear best character on the show. I do not get it. AT ALL!

lmao who the hell is saying this? She was an insignificant side character, wtf
