It was a cold November night and I was on my way home from the medical center. I often pass by Baker Street on my way home, and if time permits, sometimes pay a visit to 221B, the home of my good friend Sherlock Holmes, the worlds only consulting detective.

Tonight was such a night. Upon arriving at 221B Mrs Hudson, Sherlock's landlady, welcomed me into the house. She informed me that Holmes was up in his study, but warned that he was not in the best of moods. I asked why.
"He doesn't have a case," she answered. "You know how he gets."
I nodded solemnly upon hearing this. I did indeed know how irritable my friend could become without a case. Heeding Mrs Hudson's words of caution, I walked up the stairs to the study and gently knocked on the door. Nobody answered, though I could clearly hear frantic footsteps coming from the other side. I pushed the door open and was greeted to the sight of a disheveled looking Holmes pacing up and down the room, visibly agitated. As I entered he looked up briefly.
"Oh, it's you," he murmured disinterestedly.
"Nice to see you too," I replied, sitting down on a sofa. Knowing there was little point in trying to calm Holmes down, I opted to wait a while, and passed the time with a newspaper.
I glanced at the front page headline.

STOLEN STRADIVARIUS FINALLY FOUND

As I was reading the article Sherlock groaned loudly.
"Watson, I NEED a case!"
"Yes, so I've heard."
Sherlock started to pace up and down again. I resumed reading the artlcle about the stolen Stradivarius, when a certain passage caught my attention.

"Scotland yard managed to find the stolen Stradivarius with the help of consulting detective Sherlock Holmes."

"Wait a minute!" Watson started. "According to this you just finished a case yesterday!"
"Oh Yes, yes! The Stolen Stradivarius," Sherlock said, waving it off with an air of boredom. "So pedestrian, boring. A very dull case indeed! And besides that was yesterday! I need something now!"
Watson shook his head. Sherlock wandered over to the window and looked out at the skyline of London.
"Crime has been lower than ever lately Watson," he said in despair. "Nothing interesting is happening."

Little did we know what was awaiting us and the rest of London that fateful night...
