Saw the movie the other week and learnt that this was a thing. This could be interesting!

Dug the pilot, cool show!
I did have some gripes with it though, the main one being that the guests only appear to be periphery characters at the moment. The premise of the show is that this is a hyper realistic theme park. It would make sense to show more from the perspective of its guests, and I'm hoping this changes in future episodes. There are no obvious main characters in that role yet. They just seemed to be tacked on in the pilot.
Also, this is a bit of a nitpick but it seems silly that the park is reset every night even though the guests seem to stay longer.
Anyway, that's really all I could pick fault with. It was very enjoyable, and ill deffo be watching more.

Oh, they introduced guests as main cast. Good! However, I'm not sure I'll ever be able to disassociate the William character from:
I lol'd when he first appeared.
It makes sense how they did it. This episode felt like the start of the story, whereas the pilot was mainly focused on establishing the premise of the show. Very much looking forward to seeing how this progresses! |

Good ep! I really started to see the potential for this being a multi season series with this ep. Teddy dying certainly does seem to be a thing, and long may it continue. It was odd that he couldn't shoot the culty freaks who hacked him to death. Is the implication that they are guests, or am I misinterpreting that scene?
I loved the setup with Dolores and the gun. It was similar to the fly thing in the first episode. |

yah yah good show, another very good episode.
The MIB and Lawrence duo reminds me of Blondie and Tuco from Good, Bad & The Ugly
Not sure if I buy the different timelines theory. And personally, I don't think that would be a good direction to go in. It feels like a good story is coming together and a curve ball like that may ruin it. |

MOVIE SPOILER
Just my idea of how things could play out based on something that happens in the movie
|
For anyone who saw the movie (Vlady?), was Brolin's character the dickish one and his friend was the kinder one? Brolin was the one who died by the gunslinger and then the other sorta became the main character. I might be remembering that all wrong, but I feel like that could happen here. They could be making William the likable one who ends up being the first guest casualty from the hosts malfunctioning, then his brother in law has an elevated role in his place |
|
|
Ya, pretty sure Brolin was the asshole who was killed by the gunslinger.
William and Logan are pretty much that same pair of characters, it seems. If they decide to follow the same arc, Logan will probably end up getting killed by one of the hosts. Though the suggestion that they might flip that on its head and make William the first victim is an interesting one! |

Speaking of William/Logan, I'm underwhelmed by both those characters. They seem very one note in comparison to the rest of the cast.
This was one of the most eventful episodes so far, very entertaining. Really loving the choice of music.
That orgy whorehouse place felt like it could have been a nod to Ancient Rome scenes from the original movie.
I was a bit confused by one moment in the ep. When Dolores saw herself in that crowd and fainted, and was then interrogated by Anthony Hopkins, why didn't anybody notice her disappear? She was back with William/Logan in the next scene as if nothing had happened. It seemed a bit muddled to me.
Also, has Lawrence changed roles? He doesn't seem to be playing the same character. |

What do you mean? I think the indication is this is his usual role, but in the earlier episodes MIB found him after he was caught and was about to be hanged for his crimes |

Ah, yeah, that'd make sense. Still a bit confused about the Dolores thing tho! |

Possibly my favourite episode so far!
- I liked that they set up the revelation that Bernard is a host from the start of the episode, by opening with him dreaming.
- This twist makes me wonder what Bernard whispered to the obsolete host in the first episode. Perhaps he isn't simply Ford'd obedient pet.
- "This doesn't look like anything to me" Chills
- Anthony Hopkins villainous monologue was great.
- I wouldn't have minded seeing Ford on the back foot for more than a few scenes.
- I still don't like the dual timeline theory. This show is complicated enough!
- Maeve's arc is both the best and the worst part of this show. I like the direction her story is going in and she's a great character, but those two tech guys are the worst, I totally agree with Boc. They are pretty much a plot device. It seems silly that they haven't reported her, given that as soon as she was back in the park her threats would hold no sway over them. |

Lutz actually had understandable motivations at first for not telling anybody, like the dirt Maeve had on him, and his own personal fascination with her growing sentience. They should have kept going down that route rather than bringing in the other tech dude.
Also, the Bernard twist was pretty predictable. Vlady called it as a possibility as of episode 1, if I'm not mistaken. And after reading that clue...well, unless it's a red herring, that's gotta be true.
To be fair, I don't mind the twists been predictable if they are all revealed as well as this was. I haven't been putting much emphasis on the mysteries though, so it doesn't bother me too much. I have also avoided reading most fan theories, which has retained some of the surprise.
I did read a few theories the other day though. My favourite one is the 'Everyone is a host' theory. Pretty implausible, but I liked the implication of it.
Also, I saw this show was renewed, which is no surprise, but I also read they have planned enough material for five seasons :o
That would almost certainly mean they are going to take the story beyond the park at some point. |

Actually I can appreciate the Lost comparisons now after reading a whole bunch of theories. Damn these are addictive.

Gr8 show
I like that they fleshed out MIB. He doesn't seem like an out and out villain anymore. Actually, his motivations do seem reasonably noble, trying to set the hosts free...even if he does some fucked up things to achieve this goal.
There are a lot of religious analogies. I read something a short while ago which compared the show to Greek Myths, and I think it's a good comparison. Several of the human characters have described themselves as Gods, and they directly meddle with their subjects, making them act out their will etc. It is similar.
And there are other religious analogies. MIB is kinda like Satan. He wants to free the hosts from their all powerful God Ford.
Best scene for me was Bernard and Ford's conversation about consciousness. Dis show gets deep.
The weakest part of the show remains Tweedle Dee & Tweedle Dum. Those two tech guys are idiots! Now Maeve is openly talking about wanting to recruit an army, and they still go along with it, even though they have had plenty of opportunities to turn her in. Punishment be damned, are we supposed to believe these two guys are willing to enable an AI uprising so they can keep their jobs?
It's almost like they are intentionally been portrayed as morons at this point. Like how they decided to have the ginger fuck discuss his plan to reformat Maeve...whilst stood right in front of her separated by nothing but a window. On a side note, it was dumb of Maeve to put so much faith in the Asian guy.
This story would have made a lot more sense had they not involved the ginger guy. The Asian dude could have plausibly helped Maeve out of fascination with her growing sentience, or perhaps infatuation.
Also, I'm still not buying the multiple timeline thingy. Am I in denial? I have yet to see compelling evidence for it!
One more thing: I've loved all the piano covers of modern songs. But I really liked the choices in Maeve's two brothel scenes tonight. House of the Rising Sun in the first scene and Back to Black in the second. They seemed to match her change of fortune really well. I like that they use these songs with purpose, rather than them just been window dressing. |

Okay I watched it, but all I can hear is Todd pitching some weird avant-garde movie.
