Just saw this tonight. It was a good movie. Won't say anymore for now because I'm a bit drunk. Typing is hard

I went into this film knowing absolutely nothing about it. I never watched the trailer, nor did I read the synopsis. All I knew about it going in was that it was a Western themed Tarantino film and that Ennio Morricone was doing the score. Which sounded awesome.

It wasn't what I was expecting. And that's not a complaint, it's just that I was anticipating a very different kind of movie based on what little I knew going in. Knowing it was a Western, and that Ennio Morricone was doing the score, I was expecting a Tarantino style Spaghetti Western. Fistful of Dollars on crack or something. But it was more like:

Which turned out to be a pretty good concept too!

I liked it. Probably a tad longer than it needed to be imo, but the tension was maintained very well throughout. It was entertaining, the story was solid and the cast were great. Ditto on Goggins, he was the highlight for me. I was excited when I saw his name in the opening credits.

I'm jealous that I didn't get to see it in 70mm! I don't believe any cinemas near me are doing it. Also, we didn't get an intermission either, but we did manage to guess correctly where it was supposed to be. Which reminds me:

I loved the narration which came in at that point. That was Tarantino right? Sounded like him.

I also forgot to mention this in my previous post, but regarding the score by Morricone...was anybody else underwhelmed? It seemed as though there was only one memorable theme, and that was used throughout most of the movie. And even then, it was only reasonably good.

Still, it's hard to complain too much about the score when they are an afterthought in most other movies nowadays!
