I am surprised but I haven't missed the show much at all.

Game of thrones has helped bridge the gap considerably but even now that I know its just a few weeks away from starting up again, I can't say I am too excited. It is like I have forgotten how amazing it is.

But I just know that come the end of the first episode I am going to be hooked again.

Same problem. I caught up just as season 4 was wrapping up. The wait for the finale was painful after breezing through the past 3 seasons.

But I think this show benefits from the breaks between episodes. There are lots of cliffhangers and they lose their impact if watched in one sitting.

I can't remember ever watching a webisode/deleted scene that was the same quality as the main show. These are great!

I am starting to remember how great the show is now and I have to say...I am getting excited!

Good episode.

Just hope that Mike isn't so quick to forget that Walt killed his boss, and that the Ted situation doesn't end here. It would be too easy to leave it at that.

When I realised that Walter white and Hal were the same actor, I was really surprised.

But John Cusack? Seriously?

Loved the episode.

Last week's was a bit of an anti-climax for me because it really just covered all the loose ends of the season 4 finale. It was still good but this one seemed like a proper start to season 5, introducing new plot points and characters.

Stand out scenes:

- Jesse crying
- Mike's interrogation
- Chow scene
- Mike and new girl

Pretty much every Mike scene!

I also particularly loved that final sequence. That seemingly insignificant scene of Walt washing the dishes in the dark with the grim music building in the background all added to the atmosphere.

The way they use little details like that intensifies the scene so much. It was almost unbearable watching Skylar at the end.

Pretty good interview...

This in particular interested me.

Quote
Not counting the opening scene in “Live Free or Die,” the amount that has passed since the pilot is around 11 months. “He’s had a busy year,” said Gilligan.

This was my favourite episode so far!

Walt was a total prick, and I doubt this new partnership is going to last long at all.

but I sorta missed what Walt was trying to imply at the end that got Jesse thinking WTF.

Me too. I thought for a second that he was threatening Jesse, but it seems more likely Walt was referring to MIke.

I think it is pride.

If he was that deluded that he thought he was making the right decisions, he wouldn't have given up so easily when Mike was calling the shots in the last scene.

He was constantly fighting back the urge to assert his authority concerning rational decisions.

You can see all throughout the episode how uncomfortable Mike makes Walt feel when he is calling the shots. I don't think he disagrees with any of the decisions being made, he just hates that Mike is the one calling them and not him.

Walt is smart but his pride fucks everything up.

We have seen it all throughout the show.

He couldn't help but brag about Gale copying Heisenberg to Hank in an earlier season. He spurred on his DEA brother in law to put more effort into catching him for the sake of pride.

And now that he has "shot Jesse James" his ego has spiralled out of control.

Already this season he has threatened Saul, and threw away any pretences of partnership with his meeting with Saul and Jesse, which he spent sat like a boss ordering them about. And now he is trying to boss Mike about, who isn't going to stand for it.

Just re watched the Pilot breakfast scene on Walt's 50th birthday. I had forgotten the bacon scene from that episode.

Anyone else notice that quick shot of skyler when flossing, tying it around her finger like a noose? I love little details like that.

Season 5 has a very interesting feel to it. Each episode has had a focused and self contained story, but at the same time the plot keeps steadily advancing. I would struggle to name a favourite episode because they have all felt so different. Maybe it has been a while since my re watch and this is nothing new to the show, but is anyone else getting this same feeling?

Yeah that was unpleasant. Walt imbues this sense of aggression and danger now. At any moment I expected him to lose control and attack Skyler and even debated with myself whether or not he'd killed her during the scene where he was stirring his cereal.

Very uncomfortable viewing indeed.

I figured the ending scene would be Walt returning home to a dead Skyler, but was glad it wasn't. Walt looking at the watch as a PRIZE for how manipulative he has been in his dealings with Jesse just made me so SAD.

Also, the immediate reaction to this episode on Twitter was fucking unbearable. So many posts saying SKYLER IS A BITCH WALT SHOULD JUST OFF HER

These same commenter's probably cheered Walt on when he watched Jane die, or when he poisoned Brock.

They think breaking bad is an action series, and skyler is in the way of that!

Husband becomes delusional drug kingpin, endangers entire family, and goes into a state of mania in a crawlspace.

His wife now lives in constant fear of the changed man he has become, and cannot cope with the immorality and danger of the situation she finds herself trapped in.

Normal breaking bad viewer = Wow! This is great TV! Poor Skyler!

Dumb fuck: Oh my fucking god who is this cunt bitch complainer? Fucking off her already! Give me more exploding things!
