I figured that's all you would get out of it. I'm sorry you hated the game.

We had an ongoing commentary as the game went along. We almost didn't post any of it but Wikey went through and picked out certain comments to post.... of which the one you're referring to was left in and I really don't care. That's how I felt at the time.

We decided the redirect would direct any action - wouldn't have mattered if the player chose to use it or not, if they had an action, Nav could've redirected it.

I would probably change that mechanic in the future.

Note - we also considered a town bus driver, which we dismissed later. Spin, the horse, was almost a bus driver.

And then, after the fact, we were considering if it would have been better to give mafia a bus driver and/or town a redirect but tbh a town redirector could've done the same thing Mafia did if they hit on the right role N1, although without a team behind them so... probably not as successfully.

Bottom line, I don't regret the redirector role, it had major power, but they also had to find the right roles early on to make it so powerful and things just came together for mafia to capitalize on it.

Seriously, though, I think the only thing from me he took out was when I said tchill was "out of control" with his narrator submission lol. I liked that post, though!

There was just a lot of stuff about game mechanics and who was posting what and flavor stuff, what we were doing in our personal lives that night/day, etc. It was just stuff mixed in with the commentary that wasn't necessary to post.

Did you both help create the roles?

It was a combination.

I bugged Wikey for months to watch but he was offput by the title and thought it was a chick flick. So, finally, he watched, I sent him my initial list of roles, he revised/made them better. We stole the Princess Prisoner idea from KC (see Sons of Anarchy Mafia) Wikey's idea. It worked perfectly with Buttercup & Westley. We were hoping that would be more fun with the Mafia having a Prisoner and them taunting her, etc. We were also hoping he would have tried to signal Westley earlier somehow.. but given he had to signal his identity, that made it difficult.

We had to stretch out the characters/roles since the movie had limited characters. Which is why you see the dog, the horse, the random villager.. and the grandson/grandfather were given as roles, too.

We wanted to make Humperdinck really powerful due to the fact he's an expert tracker in the movie, and I was suggesting Vizzini have the WIFOM role but Wikey reminded me it was really Westley who initiated that contest in the movie, so it went to him. Otherwise, Westley may have been BP or something, in addition to Searcher, idk.

I had never even heard of this film before I started to play Mafia here. It was probably not popular in Europe.

It wasn't really popular when it was initially released. Became popular with video rentals.

The worst thing imo is that Nav never watched and got Vizzini!
