Rise of Skywalker was definitely better than Solo haha. Not even a worthy contender IMO

I just physically cringed reading this

not saying much but Solo is the best Star Wars movie Disney has come out with (although would've been ACTUALLY good if Lord/Miller stayed attached I'm sure). Rise of Skywalker is eeeeeasily the worst

it honestly feels like so long since I've actually been excited for a Star Wars property tbh. It's hard to believe I used to be a huge fan of it as a teenager. Even the news today is just like "eh, could be cool I guess"

I'll always remember the experience of having the Star Wars title card pop up on opening night in a packed theater for Forced Awakens and the collective excitement/chills that came along with it, it's what I imagine Phantom Menace felt like on release. Little did I know that'd be the high water mark for the Disney era. Say what you will about the prequels but at least they weren't so forgettable

You can't tell me it was worse than the Chewie fake-out death in TROS

Solo gets points for exuding an actual sense of FUN/adventure. It was very imperfect but Glover was great and the guy playing Han was surprisingly solid

The thing that annoyed me the most with the final saga movie was what they did to Rose (?). I think thats her name. The Asian girl. It was very clear from the 2nd to 3rd movie that they literally didnt agree on the storyline at all.

I could go on and on about this but this kind of thing I'd say was the core problem with the movie, how it reversed course on just about everything TLJ introduced. Not that I cared for TLJ much but if you're trying to make a coherent trilogy that's a terrible way to handle things. And a plot point I actually really did like from TLJ was that Rey came from nothing which of course gets completely reversed in the dumbest way possible

I'd say even worse than that is the way it basically invalidated the first 6 movies, which are p much Anakin's redemption arc. By bringing Palpatine back they p much made that whole arc pointless

interesting. so you think bringing Palpatine back made every other movie pointless. but he was rebuilding. what if they didnt stop him the first time? idk man. I guess we're having a debate about which movie sucked more at the end of the day lol

I'm saying it renders Anakin's arc pointless (his entire redemption revolved around turning on Palpatine) which is the main story thread of the first 6. If he didn't actually kill him ROTJ, his "hero's sacrifice" was for nothing

It’s crazy that we need a Boolshit/news thread for a single series, but we do. We have so many threads for so many different SW projects right now

THE NEWS: Rumor has it Kathleen Kennedy is OUT as head of Lucasfilms and that GEORGE himself is in. Apparently Disney wants to reshape things after the uneven (putting it lightly) trilogy and Lucas might create a new sequel trilogy

where are you actually seeing this btw

The directing/script was the real problem with the prequels, they could've been so much better if George would've only helped with the story. The outline of that story is honestly really rich (which you certainly can't say about the sequels) but the WAY it was told was what let it down. And I don't think you can really lay it at the feet of the actors when they've got so little to work with. McGregor and McDiarmid (especially) are the only ones that managed to rise above and turn their characters into something decent. And that's on a cast that included Sam Jackson, Liam Neeson, and Natalie Portman

I do still have a soft spot for Revenge of the Sith tho. Looking back it's got a lot of flaws (especially after watching the RLM review, it's hard to unsee them) but I loved the shit out of it at the time

just keep him away from Andor S2, that's all I care about

last thing we need is Ahsoka and Boba and CGI Luke shoehorned into yet another show
