unrate-able/10. Like it was an objectively bad movie, but boy was it entertaining, especially on Rabbit. SO I went right down the middle and voted a 5/10. Entertainment factor-wise this would be like an 8, quality-wise this would be like a 2. Very much a guilty pleasure movie
Mativo was my fav character 4sure, his reactions were so genuine. Until he suddenly decided to ride on a lion's back at the end of course
The whole thing was like a fever dream or something. None of the characters' actions made much sense at all, probably a side effect of it very likely being a story that was loosely strung together based on throwing the actors in with some giant cats and letting the film roll
"Look what the cat dragged in...!"
"You poor stupid jerks!" (to a pair of mortally wounded men)
"...hello lion!"
so many stupidly great quotes, I'm probably forgetting a few |

the backstory behind this is almost as entertaining as the movie itself tbh. Some FUN facts!
- the DP got completely scalped by one of the lions and had to get hundreds of stitches. He then went on to a successful Hollywood career including being the DP for Die Hard and directing Speed/Twister
- in the scene with the mom getting picked up by the elephant, it broke her leg which is caught on camera
- the director/star got so many injuries during the filming that he developed gangrene by the end
- it took 10 years to finish, and after all the financiers pulled out, the director sold all 4 of his houses to finance it

I watched the RLM Best of the Worst featuring this movie and really hate that I wasn't around to watch it with you all. I feel like I would have just been typing "lol" for the entire duration. |
I couldn't believe the timing with them watching this right around the same time we did. I just wish Jay would've been on the panel for that one
