Or at least that something was up? Me outing an action being used on him would seal the deal, unless I'm assuming things incorrectly.

I can't tell if this is just you misremembering how redirections work or just trying to make it fit with your story somehow. Leaning the latter cuz I mean has there ever been a game that would notify the user of that??
