This is definitely one I can't really rate right away. A LOT TO SOAK IN! I was really worried about the movie after the first half hour which was a bit clunky but it definitely found its groove after that
First off, the movie is fucking beautiful and that's the biggest thing it has going for it. Obviously it was all shot on location and they definitely took advantage from that respect, everything felt super authentic and had a real sense of danger/claustrophobia from the location. And that final shot was especially incredible, hard to believe this was pulled off on such a small budget
The guy that played Aguirre was good and was the only actor that stood out much (the monk and Ursua's wife were p good too I guess). Though I feel like he could've played things a little MORE unhinged towards the end
The thing that held this movie back the most to me was the dialogue, really...or maybe just the lack of it? Like there were definitely some good lines sprinkled throughout but for a story with such an epic/mythic feel to it I feel like the dialogue could've followed suit more
The ending was the best part I think, with all of them starting to lose it and the final massacre. That's another part I wish they would've dwelled on more tho, like some more self-reflection on how fruitless their whole journey ended up

Would def recommend reading about the behind-the-scenes for this movie btw, it's kinda nuts. Wish there would've been a documentary ala Hearts of Darkness made for this

oh yeah I should prob rate this. Giving it a classic 6, it definitely had its moments of true greatness but a lot of sloppy moments/pacing and missed opportunities in between. GOOD BUT NOT QUITE GREAT
