HMMMM. I think as a standalone ep this was p good/probably better than LIS ep 1, but at the same time I'm not sure I see this season topping that one (much less BTS). But WE'LL SEE!

The overall concept of this season has potential and I guess I'm interested to see where it goes even if it seems much more aimless than S1 (but that's sort of the point). Sean/Daniel definitely doesn't seem like it'll be as impactful of a relationship as Max/Chloe but they're decent so far? Like KC said it's gonna be kind of weird not having a stable cast of side characters this season, assuming that the whole season actually is gonna be a road trip
Much like LIS S1, the biggest weakness by far was the dialogue. It was definitely an improvement on the over-the-top cringiness of some of S1, but there was definitely some still there. But even "slang" aside, the politics shit was...very hit-and-miss. Mostly miss. I didn't mind them tackling those topics but they did it in the most hamfisted way possible really. I really just wish Dontnod could've handed off the writing duties to Deck Nine (the studio that made BTS) again
- Kept the candy bar. Didn't feel like picking sides, plus I played Sean as kind of a dick towards his family in the first part
- Lied to Esteban. Similar to KC, I thought I'd get in trouble otherwise (:
- Hugged Estaban. ofc
- Didn't steal money from the jar. THOUGHT ABOUT IT, but didn't want to be THAT much of a dick. Plus I felt like Sean was already bringing enough stuff to the party at that point anyway
- Questioned Daniel. I wanted to hear both sides before jumping to conclusions okay! It ended up a little more aggressive than I was hoping
- Stole from the car. I learned NOTHING from TWD!
- Begged for food. I went through a few of the other options first and found it funny how aggressive the family was already being towards me so I kinda just wanted to see what'd happen. Apparently if you send Daniel it actually works tho, HMMMM
- Didn't steal from the gas station. I actually kinda wanted to but the option went away after I interrupted Daniel/the shopkeeper's conversation
- Hit Hank and stole the camping gear. Deliberated for a bit with this just cuz I knew how it'd look to Daniel (and to a lesser extent how Hank will prob feel vindicated), but fuck that guy. Plus it's almost a matter of survival at that point, if we don't have camping gear we're prob fucked. I have no idea how they're meant to lug a fucking tent around with them but I guess that's the magic of bottomless pockets in these games
- Didn't call Lyla back. OOC I wanted to just to hear how the scene would go, but in-character that felt like a terrible decision with the HUNT heating up
- Promised Daniel I won't lie again (I probably will)
- Taught Daniel about trailblazing AKA I happened to click on some trees on our path
- Daniel didn't fall down in the woods. Nice!
- Daniel built a fort. Figured I'd give him that job for his Minecraft outlet
- We didn't do the "wood race" (?)
- Daniel didn't learn how to skip stones. I gave him like THREE tries and he still wasn't getting it. I wasn't gonna give him ALL NIGHT!
- Daniel didn't get mad. Good
- Daniel had an OK night
- Daniel didn't have to beg
- Daniel didn't distract the shopkeeper
- Daniel didn't have enough to eat (????????? WHAT)
- Daniel got a Power Bear toy! Spent like $3 out of my $10 on that shit. WORTH
- Daniel stole something from Brody. Monkey see monkey do
giving this game another shot hot off the LIS3 announcement
HMMMM!
ep 2
+
I...don't really remember the exact way I was playing Sean in ep 1, but I'm sure it was a bit different than the mindset I was in here! The cringey dialogue in the beginning already had me feeling JADED which only gradually wore away as the ep went on, which partially resulted in me being a bit of a dick throughout! But otherwise I also did try to play him fairly pragmatic and stern with Daniel
also, unfortunately I uninstalled Captain Spirit some time ago so my save profile didn't carry over :( o well, I don't remember a ton of my choices from that game at this point anyway
I will say the moments of quiet contemplation are still great here, definitely the strong point. Also the sense of place with the grandparents' house was very nicely done
choices
- Threw a snowball at Mushroom. 1%!! (:
- Let Daniel kill the cougar. Honestly, why wouldn't I? There was a very real chance it could've attacked us too, it wasn't just a revenge thing even though Daniel clearly thought of it that way
- No one prayed. (: I did feel kinda bad about this one! I told Daniel earlier that heaven is FAKE and Mushroom is NOT up there with dad right now...but then to make it worse I refused to pray with grandma cuz the wolf bros don't do that SHIT! Sean was in full edgy teenager mode this ep, which tbf the dialogue already pegs him into that hole either way
- Pretended I didn't know about Daniel's power. I'm not telling anyone SHIT unless I have to
- Helped with extra chores, less out of the goodness of my heart and more cuz I interact with just about everything
- Reminded Daniel of the rules after he saved Chris. CONTROL yourself kid! He would've been fine, there was snow to break his fall!
- Used Stephen's laptop to log in to your profile. Why not
- Couldn't talk to Lyla and lied to her mother. Not sure why I didn't get to talk to Lyla, but once her mother picked up there was no way I was telling her who I was
- Didn't gain Chris' trust. I...didn't really care to hear about that family's problems!
- Chose to protect Daniel's secret
- Didn't listen to Cassidy's song until the end. Whoops
- Didn't draw for Chris
- Stole a Christmas present for Daniel. I had some money but didn't like any of the stuff on sale, the yo-yo was a WAY better gift
- Didn't get involved in Charles' problems
- Chose to pull Stephen out together and injured his leg. I figured not using Daniel's power would be a negative here, but honestly it doesn't really make sense (: How would lifting the cupboard and sliding him out have an adverse effect on his leg versus just having Daniel lift it up??
- Cop chased you and Chris was hit by a car, lol. I kinda was asking for that one! Buuut...at least Daniel's power is still a secret?
- Daniel did not continue to swear. Shades of Lee/Clem :'(
- Daniel won the dice game while cheating (not sure how this was a choice)
- Daniel killed the cougar
- Daniel was able to bury Mushroom properly
- Daniel refused to pray
- Daniel didn't want to tidy the room
- Daniel wasn't asked to tell the truth to Chris
- Daniel was repressed from using his power
- Daniel didn't use his power to save Chris from the car
- Daniel blamed you for Chris' accident. Whatever KID!
- Daniel was too upset to enjoy his (stolen) present
