even though it hasn't been the strongest season I'm sad that it's over already :( A lot of good set-up for this finale tho so I have HIGH HOPES for a strong finish. Similar to a lot of things about this show, the build-up's felt super Lost-like with so many different threads inching towards their convergence at the Valley Beyond

ehhhhh
That was pretty disappointing. I expected so much more
FIRST OF ALL, the most annoying thing was how little anything that happened mattered, at least for the major characters. Pretty much EVERY major character was tentatively dead, and they were all brought back in some fashion. So weak. I was hoping Bernard would be the only host to survive tbh
Not sure what the purpose of MIB is anymore. I feel like there was a really good opportunity for a climactic moment for his character in the Forge, like a final confrontation with Dolores. But instead...nothing. They even show him limp down there and load his gun and nothing happens? Huh???
Why did Maeve "die" from getting shot in the torso when the exact same thing happened to Dolores earlier in the episode and she was fine
I guess I'm curious where the show will go from here but that's about it. There's not really any particular story I'm that excited about going forward

Also for a character who had an entire episode set aside to introduce him...Akecheta was p much a non-factor here

I definitely didn't love Dolores coming back (though it wasn't surprising) but I at least wish Tessa Thompson would've been Dolores' permanent new body. She's a much better actor than Evan Rachel Wood and at the very least it would've been interesting to watch a new actor play that character going forward
Though speaking of which...why were there TWO Dolores at the end?? Was one just a copy

Curt are the three episodes Riddle of the Sphinx/Kiksuya/whatever the Shogun episode was? Those would be mine
Kinda reminded me of Mr Robot S2 (though that was def better). Each show had a great S1 with a big twist that was perfectly built up to, and then it feels like in S2 they try to go bigger and better with the twists despite it feeling really forced/not serving the story well. Maybe this show can bounce back in S3 like that one did?? WHO KNOWS. I just feel like it's so far off the rails after this finale

- "What gate? Seriously, what gate?" "I don't FUCKING know!" FELIX!!!! Felix is the best Boc, grow up. lol'd at those being like 2 of the 4 survivors of the whole damn show |
I actually was thinking to myself, I would've loved that line if they just left it at "What gate?"
And then they went and RUINED it!! Those two are a STAIN

Part of me can't seem to care about the logic of the show anymore for some reason. Like if Teddy and Maeve were two of the five even though they couldn't be(?) then I'd just say oh okay *shrugs* and accept it
That's what half this season felt like. I don't know what the RULES of the show are anymore. They seem to sorta just do whatever they want |

- Whilst I think the writers are still on top of the show and know where they are heading, I think this season demonstrated that the longer this show goes on, the more at risk it is of becoming a convoluted mess that gets lost in its own mythology.
Of course, they might know where they are going, but it's hard for the audience to work out. Okay, Dolores and Bernard are out in the real world now, and that's clearly going to be one of the major focuses next season, but other than that they effectively wiped the slate clean here. Will the park even feature next season, and if it does, what purpose will it serve? I'm guessing things are just going to be reset, but nobody wants to watch the hosts gradually regain consciousness all over again.
The park is supposed be the main setting of the show, but it feels like the story they are telling has moved on from it. |
They claim they have a full 5 season arc planned out (at least the major story beats)
And I saw an interview that asked them about the purpose of the parks going forward and it sounded like they'll still factor in since not every character has escaped. Like I imagine Maeve may do...something there for a while longer?
They also hinted that we'll probably see all the other worlds at some point, which could p cool. I'd just hope they'd go way more in-depth than they did with Shogun World. That whole arc this season was laughably pointless in hindsight, all that came out of it in the end was Japanese Armistice who's just a silent background character. If they did something along the lines of Kiksuya with a different park that could be AMAZING, see a whole different perspective on the whole uprising
