splitting this into its own thread
just played Episode 1, GUD STUFF. I already know I'm gonna want to replay the original season after this is over
|
the new voice actor for Chloe felt weird at first but I got used to it pretty quickly
I'm curious how they're gonna handle the ending, since it seems likely that it'll ultimately end right when Rachel gets abducted. Doesn't seem like there's a whole lot of room for variability there besides their last interaction
MAJOR CHOICES:
- You attacked. Running away after Rachel stepped in for me would've been fucked
- You were kind to Joyce. I mean obviously. She's not the problem here
- You defended Nathan. This one felt weird cuz obviously we know what's gonna happen either way (: But I had to TRY!
- You told Rachel you are just friends. This kinda stems from my biggest complaint with this episode - all of this shit happens within like two days. So the relationship between Rachel and Chloe feels like it moves WAY too fast, especially cuz they made it seem like when they met at the concert they'd never really talked before. So I told her let's WAIT AND SEE (even tho I know what's gonna happen next, I tried to stay in Chloe's present mindset)
MINOR CHOICES:
- You didn't take the money
- You didn't purchase pot from Frank
- You read Joyce's self-help book
- You put the photo of William on the dresser
- You didn't slip money into Joyce's purse
- You told Eliot you would go to the play with him
- You didn't listen to Skip's demo
- You finished the table top game with Steph and Mikey <-- was my favorite 'side interaction' easily
- You sabotaged Victoria's homework
- You told Rachel you believe in love
- You shared earbuds with Rachel (lol 99% picked this)
- You jumped out of the train |

Also I didn't realize before I played that a different company (US-based) took over for this game, which makes so much sense now. The dialogue is feeling a LOT more natural in this game
|
tho it was pretty awkward when they just had Rachel list off every single choice you made in the episode Telltale-style. But that's a little different
I loved that they gave an origin of why Chloe used 'hella' in the first game so much, she picked it up from Rachel. Actually gives an emotional connection to it rather than it just being cringey |

it took me a little over 2 hours which is about average for a LIS episode for me
|
though I feel like I missed slightly more this episode than I usually do. I kinda just explore the areas at random and if I happen to hit the objective before I cover everything I usually just go ahead with it. So I didn't find the money at all and I'm not even sure who this Skip character is |

so good. Might've been my favorite ep of the series, and this season might top S1 for me by the end tbh, it's at least on the same level so far
|
Like everyone else said, that play scene was easily the highlight of the episode. I was actually worried for a while they were gonna skip right past the play so I was happy we were actually getting to see some of it in the first place, but the improv scene was incredible
Everything feels so depressing with Rachel knowing what's to come. Ugh. Even just drawing that buried treasure graffiti on the junkyard boat knowing what it's about to symbolize. They've done a good job getting me invested in that relationship in a short time which is gonna make episode 3 incredibly devastating
for some reason the funniest line for me was from Mrs. Amber when I asked her how I was doing: "You're doing great. Without you, this dinner would've taken minutes longer to prepare."
MAJOR CHOICES:
- Took the blame for Rachel, ofc. I was fine with playing along with it for our mutual benefit until Wells since she'd be kicked out of The Tempest. I would've felt like shit if I didn't speak up after that
- Emptied pockets at David's request. I told him off for the most part but figured why not since I didn't have any weed anyways
- Gave Damon the money. Partly because I thought it was the best call to stop Drew from getting the shit kicked out of him, but mostly selfishly so I'd get my debt wiped away and get my cut. Buuut that second part didn't happen since the money went through Damon instead of Frank :(
- Asked Rachel to get a tattoo. I don't even remember kiss being an option? But either way I probably would've chose this, like Rose said it seemed like the most fitting thing for Chloe to ask for
MINOR CHOICES:
- Didn't talk to Eliot about the play. But...I did when he was talking about getting tickets? Unless this meant talking to him afterwards. Also I didn't really hate Eliot, I actually feel far less annoyed by him than I did about Warren. Although his journal is def sketch at the very least
- Refused to start over with David
- Put Elvis on the truck dashboard
- Didn't pay off debt to Frank...I guess this means if I paid him with cash? Cuz I wiped away the debt with the Drew mission
- Didn't tell Steph that Rachel was single
- Didn't return Drew's money to him
- Told Samantha to help Nathan. This led to a super heartwarming moment in the montage when they meet up alone after the play and she applauds for him
- Confronted Victoria before the play. lol I loved how Victoria just passes out and absolutely no one bats an eye
- Told Rachel I'd like to go on a road trip
- Rachel attacked James at dinner. I was trying to keep my COOL! But I'm glad the subject got breached |

Even just drawing that buried treasure graffiti on the junkyard boat knowing what it's about to symbolize. |

I went for the burial ground graffiti and it was actually sad in a completely different and unexpected way. Chloe made it a memorial to her pirate-persona from playing with Max.
It made me curious if the buried treasure option was more of an allusion since I expected that one to be |
|
|
oh there was less (immediate) context for the buried treasure one then, it looked like a standard treasure map and Chloe didn't comment on it |

- I put the singing man on the truck! He's a good man. I also used the gold mat, the pirate flag, the Christmas light, and the tag about dying. I assume most of those could be swapped out. (What do you swap the light for?) |
|
|
I used the shitty mat, the tie-dye beach towel, the Christmas light, and the Illuminati tag. I really wanted to use the pirate flag instead of the beach towel but didn't realize you couldn't swap an item out once you already picked one up for that 'category'
There was a different lightbulb in a terrarium heat lamp (it was like a red cylindrical one) |

Did the tag change during the dream?
this was the other one:

also here's
|
|
oh wut? is that alternate one in the truck bed? I didn't even know you could go back there
and ya, in the dream sequence the Illuminati eye grew wings and started flapping around |

That's up in the boat Cart |
|
You climb up onto the ship and go into one of the musical montage scenes as you look out over the fire
PS I love those sitting and reflecting scenes. I always sit there for a little while |
|
|
oh yeah duh, that's where I drew the treasure map. Didn't recognize it
and ya, I feel like that was one of the best 'reflection' scenes yet. The music and setting were great, I sat there a long time for that one |

great as always, though I think episode 2 was still the best of this series
The scene in James' office was super stressful. At first I immediately felt bad when I graffiti'd his desk cuz we just had the HEART2HEART in the previous scene, but that guilt got undone very quickly. It was such a helpless feeling having Damon make all these demands and knowing you're already in too deep to back out at this point
AND THEN FUCKING ELIOT COMES IN. And to think he felt like a tolerable version of Warren to me in the first two eps (even tho I still mostly ignored him anyway), he was fucking awful this episode. I wish I could've smacked him with the trophy instead of throwing it through the window
CHOICES:
only one big choice this time?? It was a doozy tho. I was so torn and apparently so was everyone else, it's split perfectly 50/50 right now. In the end I didn't tell Rachel the truth tho. I so badly wanted to to give her some CLOSURE but it really wouldn't have helped anything in the end as even Sera admitted, it'd just fuck Rachel up even more. Tied in perfectly with the episode's theme of necessary lies too
other choices:
- You killed the plant with soda. lol whoops. At least I TRIED to save it! :$
- You accepted David's photograph. I had Chloe berate David at every turn during that conversation even though he was being surprisingly cool about it (probably cuz it was Mother's Day) but there was no reason to go THAT far and reject it
- You didn't have Drew's money at the start of the day. Cuz I gave that to Damon last ep? ya
- You visited the Norths at the hospital (other options were "sparred with Drew over pudding"?? And "played tabletop with Mikey" which had 0%?? Wish I could've got one of those)
- You didn't donate to the firefighter's fund. I guess that was a thing
- You convinced Damon that Gerald was the snitch. Apparently this was the lowest option and even framing the NICE BOUNCER GUY was higher?? wtf. I picked Gerald (the T-shirt vendor) over the mugshot guy cuz I didn't feel like someone that hardened would've snitched I guess, so I went with the middle of the road option out of the three. I wonder if there actually was a right answer to this? Cuz it seemed Gerald wasn't it, whoops
- Rachel didn't meet her mother. obv
Can't wait until Farewell comes out. Having those characters back (with the original Chloe voice even) with these writers is gonna be amazing |
